Grand Theft Auto 6fans are urging developer Rockstar Games to bring back the police database feature that was last seen in 2008’sGrand Theft Auto 4,with some stating that the feature was “ahead of its time.” Despite the fact thatGrand Theft Auto 6is now just ten months away from release, much of the game is shrouded in mystery, which means fans have been left to speculate - not only about which features might return, but also about what new additions could debut, and which elements may be gone for good.

The wait forGrand Theft Auto 6may feel excruciating, but fans are doing everything they can to make the long wait a little easier. One of the most common ways that fans appear to be passing the time is byrecreating Jason’s house fromGrand Theft Auto 6Trailer 2. Since the trailer’s release back in May, fans have already taken to recreating the iconic location withinFar Cry 5,Grand Theft Auto 5, and Blender. Some fans have even pointed to scenes from the trailer as evidence that the highly anticipated title may include a new house renovation feature. Now, attention seems to be shifting once again, this time to calls for the return of an often overlooked feature fromGTA 4.

There’s no denying thatGrand Theft Auto 4was one of the most iconic and influential installments in the series, so it’s no surprise that fans are requesting one of the game’s most overlooked features to make a return. In a new post on Reddit, user No_Pie465 said they “would love to see the criminal database make a return inGrand Theft Auto 6.” Others are also petitioning for the feature’s comeback, with fellow Reddit userEducational_Result93saying, “Agreed! I feel police RP will be a big part,GTAknows how popular the FiveM servers are.” For those who might be unaware, the database could be brought up inside of an LSPD vehicle and would allow players to accept vigilante missions, view most wanted targets, and search for random criminals, each of which had their own backstory and description.

GTA 6 Fans Want the Police Database to Return

Many fans were quick to point out thatGrand Theft Auto’s role-playing community has grown exponentially since the days ofGTA 4, which means such a feature would be great to see in the series' next installment. Although Rockstar Games hasn’t revealed its plans for arole-playing-specific server inGrand Theft Auto 6, the studio did acquire Cfx.re in 2023, the team best known for creating FiveM. Given the massive popularity ofGrand Theft Auto Onlineand the FiveM mod, it seems logical that Rockstar’s acquisition of Cfx.re likely means that role-playing servers could be implemented directly intoGrand Theft Auto 6’s online mode. If that’s the case, there’s a strong chance thatGTA 4’s police database feature may return.

Unfortunately, fans still have some waiting left to do before they find out if any of their requested features will be making a return. The title was initially due to launch in Fall 2025, but Rockstar Games announced anunfortunate delay toGrand Theft Auto 6, pushing the game into next year. The studio said it needed the extra time to ensure thatGrand Theft Auto 6meets the high expectations of fans. It will now launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 29, 2025.
