Over a month afterGrand Theft Auto 6appeared on the PlayStation Store, the highly anticipated title is now available to wishlist on the Xbox Store, ready for its release next year. Unlike PlayStation, Xbox Series X/S owners can now download and install a very small pre-load file forGrand Theft Auto 6when they wishlist the title. Unfortunately, the file is approximately 300 MB in size, which means it is not the entire game and merely a placeholder.
Last month, developer and publisher Rockstar Games shocked the world when it released thesecond trailer forGrand Theft Auto 6. The almost three-minute-long trailer was also accompanied by an updated website for the title, which featured over 70 new screenshots and tons of information on the game’s locations and characters. As already confirmed by the game’s first trailer in 2023, Jason and Lucia will be the two main protagonists forGrand Theft Auto 6, but will be joined by plenty of other quirky characters as they find themselves wrapped up in a criminal conspiracy after an easy score goes horribly wrong. Rockstar says the duo will need to rely on each other more than ever if they want to survive.
Xbox Users Can Now Wishlist GTA 6
Shortly after the release of Trailer 2, Rockstar Games launched an official product page forGrand Theft Auto 6on the PlayStation Store. The page includes the new key art, its official release date, and the ability for players to add the title to their wishlist. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Xbox users, asGrand Theft Auto 6remained absent from the platform’s storefront until earlier today. Those looking to get the game on Series X/S can now visit the officialGrand Theft Auto 6Xbox store pageto wishlist the game. When users addGrand Theft Auto 6to their wishlist, a small pre-load file will be downloaded and installed. Although this doesn’t occur on PlayStation 5, it is a standard feature on the Xbox Series X/S. But fans shouldn’t expect to pre-load the entire game, as the file is only 300 MB and merely a placeholder for its pre-load.
Fans looking to pre-load the entirety of the game will have to wait quite a while yet, as Rockstar recently announced thatGrand Theft Auto 6had been delayed. The highly anticipated next entry in theGTAseries was initially set to launch in Fall 2025, but Rockstar said it needed more time to meet the expectations that are expected from the studio. As such,Grand Theft Auto 6will now launch on Jun 20, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
As of writing, there’s no word on whenGrand Theft Auto 6will come to PC. The game’s predecessor,Grand Theft Auto 5, took almost two years to arrive on PC, whileRed Dead Redemption 2took just a single year. Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has commented on the game’s lack of PC release date, saying, “Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.” The CEO’s comments seemingly confirm that the title will come to PC, but just not at launch.
