In 2026,Gears of Warwill finally add another chapter to its story with its new prequel,Gears of War: E-Day. Set 14 years beforeGears of War 1and about 42 years beforeGears 5,Gears of War: E-Daywill follow Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they witness the Locust’s invasion of the surface firsthand on Emergence Day. While the upcomingGears of War: Reloadedwill reintroduce veteranGearsplayers and new PlayStation fans to theGearsuniverse through a remake ofGears of War 1, there’s still much unknown aboutGears of War: E-Day.

Only one trailer forGears of War: E-Dayhas been released so far, depicting Marcus Fenix struggling to fight a Locust Drone as theLocust Horde invades the city of Kalona. In this trailer, The Coalition confirmed that at least one classic weapon will be returning inE-Day: the Mark 1 Lancer Assault Rifle, otherwise known as the Retro Lancer. WithE-Daybeing the earliestGearsgame on the franchise timeline to date, many weapons from modernGearstitles will likely be absent from the game, but there are still several memorable weapons that deserve to return inE-Day’s campaign and multiplayer.

Which Weapons Should Return in Gears of War: E-Day?

Possible Returning COG Weapons in E-Day

In every singleGears of Wargame, weapons produced bythe Coalition of Ordered Governmentsare some of the most consistently appearing and effective weapons across the franchise. WithE-Dayexpected to take place immediately after the COG ended their conflict with the Union of Independent Republics, known as the Pendulum Wars, it’s not unreasonable to expect most classic COG weapons to reappear inE-Day. These classic COG weapons include:

While several of these weapons only appeared in one or a fewGearsgames, their appearance inE-Daywould make sense due to the COG being at the height of their military power during Emergence Day.

Possible Returning Locust Weapons in E-Day

By the time Emergence Day occurred, the Locust had already been active for 30 years deep underground in subterranean regions known as the Hollow. During this time, the Locust developed their own culture, society, and weapons, particularly to deal with ever-aggressive Imulsion-mutated creatures called the Lambent. While much of the Locust’s arsenal would be made up ofsalvaged COG and UIR weapons, they did produce their own deadly weapons that became staples of theGears of Warfranchise, including:

Given how the Locust were similarly at the height of their power during Emergence Day, it would make sense for theLocust inGears of War: E-Dayto use their entire arsenal of weapons.

Possible Returning UIR Weapons in E-Day

WIthGears of War: E-Daybeing set around the end of the Pendulum Wars, The Coalition could feature the UIR in some form in the game. Starting inGears of War: Judgment, the UIR has slowly been increasingly featured in modernGearsgames, which would allowE-Dayto feature an early mission ofMarcus Fenix fighting UIR remnantsor display some UIR remnants fighting Locust forces in the game. ModernGearsgames have additionally begun introducing UIR-produced weapons; most, if not all, would be good picks to return inE-Day, including:
