Summary

TheWorst Generationis a title bestowed upon twelve infamous pirates who emerged prior to the Summit War inOne Piece. The first eleven of these pirates all made an appearance in the Sabaody Archipelago right before the war, with each having 9-digit bounties upon entry. The twelfth pirate, Marshall D. Teach, earned the title by defeating Portgas D. Ace, a pirate who was previously eyed for the Shichibukai position.

With two exceptions, the pirates with this distinction were often captains, as they were the most notorious members of each crew. These pirates are not strictly allies or enemies; they often team up as much as they face off against each other. Notoriety or not, most efficient pirates need good ships to do their job, and the Worst Generation is no different. These ships are used by the 10 pirate crews, which contain Worst Generation members.

10Thousand Sunny

Straw Hat Pirates

TheThousand Sunnyis the second ship used by the Straw Hat Pirates after the Going Merry’s destruction. It is, however, the first and only ship the crew has used since its two inaugural members were added to the Worst Generation. The ship was brilliantly designed by the likes of Franky, Iceburg, and several other master shipwrights affiliated with the Galley La company.

The ship features a lion-shaped figurehead, multiple cannons, and an Adam Wood constitution, which lends it a considerable amount of resilience. It has various cola-powered features, such as the Gaon Cannon and the Coup De Burst, along with the Soldier Dock System, which stores six devices, typically vehicles for smaller-scale travel.

Beyond the essential elements for nautical travel, such as a kitchen, sleeping quarters, and a sick bay, certain rooms on the ship were explicitly designed with certain members of the crew in mind. Due to the crew having only eight members at the time of its creation, this seems like less of an indulgence than it may have otherwise with a bigger crew. One example is the gym in the Crow’s Nest, which Roronoa Zoro utilizes for his training.

9Polar Tang

Heart Pirates

ThePolar Tangwas the ship used by the Heart Pirates. It was fairly unique in design, being a yellow submarine rather than a traditional pirate ship. It had retractable sails for travel above water, as well as engines that activated when underwater. It also had lights attached for better underwater sight. The ship contained a medical room, which Law made expert use of thanks to his background in medicine.

The Polar Tang saved Luffy’s life after he was hauled aboard with Jinbe to escape from the Summit War. Unfortunately, the ship was destroyed in a battle with theBlackbeard Pirates, another crew whose captain was part of the Worst Generation. It is currently unclear whether the pirates aboard the Polar Tang survived its destruction, with the only two confirmed survivors thus far being Law and his navigator, Bepo.

8Victoria Punk

Kid Pirates

TheVictoria Punkwas the ship used by the Kid Pirates. It was adorned with bones, with its figurehead notably being the skull of a dinosaur. The Victoria Punk was named after the childhood friend and crush of the two Worst Generation members of the crew. Victoria Shiruton Doruyanaika once ate udon noodles with Kid and Killer and ended up spilling broth on herself. This resulted in them making fun of her, which led her to attack them and ultimately cut ties. As a result, Kid and Killer developed a dislike for noodles and broth. Victoria subsequently lost her life to gang violence, which led to Kid, Killer, and other future crewmates unifying their gangs to depose the gang who killed her.

Killer is notable for being one of two members of the Worst Generation who is not also a pirate captain. This is likely due to the Kid Pirates' wanton violence, which even targeted innocents. Unfortunately, the consequences of their actions caught up with them. Upon staging an attack on Elbaf, Shanks knocked out Kid with his superior Haki, foreseeing his destruction of Elbaf if he was left to his own devices. Subsequently,Dorry and Brogy, co-captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates, used Hakoku to split the Victoria Punk in half. Despite the crew sinking in the carnage, it has not yet been confirmed that they perished along with their ship.

7Jewelry Margherita

Bonney Pirates

TheJewelry Margheritawas the ship used by the Bonney Pirates. It was formerly a fishing vessel from Sorbet Kingdom, but was redesigned to reflect its captain, Bonney, who is notorious for her appetite.

Appropriately, the ship’s name seems to be a combination of its captain’s name and her favorite food, Pizza Margherita. Pizza itself is an obvious inspiration for the ship’s design elements as well. With the majority of the crew apprehended by the Blackbeard Pirates and eventually the Marines, any info pertaining to the status of the Jewelry Margherita itself remains unclear for the time being.

6The Fire Tank Pirates' Ships

Nostra Castello, Tarte 25, And One More

The Fire Tank Piratescycling through ships is attributable to their past affiliation with theBig Mom Pirates. TheNostra Castellowas designed to resemble a fortress, likely reflecting Bege’s own ability to become a fortress himself. It features cannons as its figurehead and a castle at the top of the ship. Prometheus, Big Mom’s sun homie, ultimately set this ship on fire and left it to sink.

TheTarte 25is one in a series of battleships designed to guard and scout in the vicinity of the various islands in Totto Land. There are 34 in total, like the 34 subsidiary islands of the Totto Land. Tarte 25 was part of a squad led by Charlotte Custard to attack the Fire Tank Pirates, but it ended up being stolen by them to facilitate their escape. It is unclear what happened to it. The most recent ship debuted in the"Gang" Bege’s Oh My Familycover story. It was also stolen from another crew, and in addition to sporting Bege’s name and Jolly Roger, it also has a mast reading “I heart family.” This fits with the theme of the Cover Story, where the Fire Tank Pirates reunite Chiffon with her twin sister, Lola, and their long-lost father, Pound.

5Liberal Hind

Drake Pirates/Beasts Pirates

TheLiberal Hindis the Drake Pirates' ship. It resembles a marine battleship in design, but with a red and brown color scheme, and various other redesigns, such as a double-barreled cannon and several masts, each containing crows nests and Jolly Roger flags. Its name (and certain design elements) are inspired in part by the Golden Hind, a vessel captained by Sir Francis Drake, the same historical figure who partially inspired elements of X Drake.

Although Drake was seen using the Hind after joining the Beasts Pirates, the ship’s status since he was exposed as a member ofSWORD, as well as that of his crew’s status (it is currently unclear how aligned the Drake Pirates are with Drake’s true intentions), have not been elaborated upon.

4Grudge Dolph

Hawkins Pirates/Beasts Pirates

TheGrudge Dolphis the Hawkins Pirates' ship. It has a lot of voodoo imagery, with its figurehead resembling a voodoo doll, and various voodoo masks decorating the helm. This refers to Hawkins' own powers with the Wara Wara no Mi, which enable him to create voodoo dolls of others that take damage in his place.

It has not been seen since Kaido attacked the compromised alliance the crew had formed with the Kid Pirates and the On Air Pirates, leaving its fate currently unclear.

3Stay Tune

On Air Pirates/Beasts Pirates

Stay Tuneis the On Air Pirates' ship. Its figurehead is a massive horn, it has crow’s nests resembling drums, and other design aspects which reinforce the musical theme of the crew. Like the Grudge Dolph, little has been seen of it.

Apoo used a separate ship when traveling with the Numbers during the Wano Country arc, but it is unclear if it was a personal ship for him, as he was a part of the Beasts Pirates during that time.

2Hanjomaru

Fallen Monk Pirates

Hanjomaruis the ship belonging to the Fallen Monk Pirates, presently the most mysterious crew within the Worst Generation. Its figurehead is an elaborate white-winged oni head mounted on a shield with a pair of naginata sticking through it.

The ship also includes a shrine above the bottom sail and a cabin modeled after a shrine, likely tied to the group’s implied religious background. The ship is believed to have originated from Sky Island, along with its crew.

1The Blackbeard Pirates' Ships

The Raft And The Fleets That Followed

The original ship used by theBlackbeard Pirateswas little more than araft, only distinguished by gunports, a mast, and some sails. It appropriately accommodated the small crew, which consisted of only five members upon its debut in the story. However, following the recruitment of the giant, Sanjuan Wolf, the raft was mostly broken, leading the Blackbeard Pirates to attempt a bargain with the Marines for a battleship that could accommodate their new cremate. Following Shiryu’s remark on the impracticality of a raft in the New World, Burgess Jesus stated that the crew had grown attached to it.

Since the timeskip, Marshall D. Teach and his crewmates have gained prominence, even defeating the remaining members of the Whitebeard Pirates, in addition to claiming a significant portion of their territory. Like the Whitebeard Pirates before them, the Blackbeard Pirates havegrown enough to necessitate divisions. Each original crewmate, along with the defecting Marine Admiral, Kuzan, had been given the title of captain, with each of them becoming one of the Ten Titanic Captains and controlling a separate ship. Of those seen, the various ships they have used since call back to their original rafts, with gunport-rigged logs on either side. That said, the structure of each ship overall bears greater resemblance to actual battleships than the prior raft.
