Battlestate Games boss Nikita Buyanov has recently teased a “hardcore” wipe forEscape from Tarkov, sparking the curiosity of the fanbase.Escape from Tarkovalready had several wipes before, but what exactly this “hardcore wipe” could be is not entirely known yet, so fans are excited for July.
Escape from Tarkovis a popular first-person extraction shooter that was originallyreleased in early accessin 2017. Since then, the game has changed a lot due to player feedback and has also grown in popularity. Estimates fromActivePlayer.ioindicate that over a million gamers have playedEscape from Tarkovduring the last 30 days.
Now,Escape from Tarkovdeveloper Nikita Buyanov has teased a “Hardcore Wipe” for the game. The reaction from the fanbase was a mixture of excitement and confusion, as none of the previous wipes were “hardcore” ones, and gamers are still not entirely sure what that could mean. In theEscape from Tarkovcommunity, “hardcore” means playing the entire game without some important features, such as access to the Flea Market, which makes the experience incredibly harder. Soon after the tease, Battlestate Games posted anupdatedEscape From Tarkovroadmap, indicating that the wipe will take place in July, together with the next update.
Nikita Buyanov Teases Mysterious Escape From Tarkov ‘Hardcore’ Wipe
Battlestate Games’ new plans are pretty similar to the ones fromthe previousEscape from Tarkovroadmap, revealed back in April. The main changes are that the Hardcore Wipe has been added to the 0.16.8.0 update, which will also bring new Prestige levels and new PMC customization options. Following that, patch 0.16.9.0 is scheduled to be out in August and will come with a new in-game event. It’s also known thatEscape from Tarkovintends to release its 1.0.0 version in 2025, meaning that this could be the final wipe before Version 1.0.0 resets progress for the last time.
These new plans come on the heels ofEscape from Tarkov’s June update. The newest update changed the game’s season to summer, applied many optimization fixes, as well as fixed some audio problems, introduced new quality-of-life features, and much more.
Hopefully, the popular extraction shooter will really reach 1.0.0 this year, and this could even mean that the eagerly awaitedSteam version ofEscape from Tarkovcould finally be released. Back in 2020, Battlestate Games promised a Steam version of the game’s 1.0.0 version, and the devs have been taking a long time to get there, but a Steam release could certainly impact the title’s popularity.
Escape from Tarkov
WHERE TO PLAY
Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and a story-driven walkthrough. With each passing day the situation in the Norvinsk region grows more and more complicated. Incessant warfare in Tarkov has sparked massive panic; the local population has fled the city, but those who stayed are looking to improve their fortunes at the expense of others. Having accepted the new reality, savage Tarkov locals - “Scavs” flocked into well-armed gangs and started the redivision of the city. Nowadays, Tarkov is separated by unseen borders, controlled by different groups. Gain-greedy gunmen would go to any length to have their way, including the murder of civilians and direct confrontation with the two private military companies. The players will have to experience living in the skin of one of the mercenaries who survived the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict. After choosing one of the sides – USEC or BEAR – the player’s character starts to make his way out of the city. Tarkov is sealed off by UN and Russian military, supply chains are cut, communication with operational command is lost, and in these conditions everyone has to make his own choices of what to do and how to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.
