TheEverdark Sovereign Darkdrift KnightinElden Ring Nightreignintroduces a much more powerful version ofFulghor. Players will notice a change only in the boss itself, not the expedition, so they’ll already be familiar with the bosses that appear during both day and night cycles.
Even among the regular starting roster of bosses, Fulghor was considered one of the most challenging inElden Ring Nightreign, if not the hardest. This guide offers information on his attack patterns, strategies to defeat him, and the rewards players can expect to receive.
Phase 2
Striking Gale
Wind starts to form around the boss’s weapon, and he strikes forward, letting out a gush of air. Fulghor can perform this attack multiple times.
Claw Descend
The boss leaps up into the air and slams his arm into the ground, damaging everyone in a massive area.
Claw Combo
Fulghor uses his left arm to swipe in a wide arc multiple times and can follow up with a slam.
Relentless Charge
Fulghor starts charging around the arena multiple times, leaving behind a trail that explodes after a few seconds. After three charges, he slams his weapon down, covering the area ahead in golden dust that detonates shortly after.
Golden Empower
The boss takes a stance where he starts to empower his weapon. Shortly after, he slams it into the ground, causing golden lances to erupt from below, targeting all players.
Phase 3
Golden Rain
The boss shoots a bolt into the sky, causing dozens of golden projectiles to rain down near his location. The bolts then move outward from the boss, dealing considerable damage.
Quickshot
Fulghor aims a golden projectile at a player’s location and fires it instantly.
Slam Combo
The boss performs two swings with his golden twinblade before slamming the weapon into the ground, causing an explosion.
Endless Whirl
Fulghor readies his golden twinblades and begins whirling the weapon multiple times. This is a relatively long combo that delivers over 10 hits, but there are two small pauses in between.
Heavenpiercer Arrow
The boss rises into the sky and gallops a few times before stopping and preparing to aim a projectile at a marked player. After a few seconds, the boss fires the projectile, which explodes over a massive area upon hitting the ground.
Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight Weaknesses
When preparing for this fight, you have several elemental damage options to choose from. First and foremost, having at least one player equipped with Lightning is essential. The boss takes increased damage from Lightning, making it a strong offensive choice. More importantly,Lightning is key to breaking Fulghor out of his stance. Skills likeLightning SlashandThunderboltare highly recommended, as they can reliably interrupt the boss and prevent incoming damage.
Since thestance-breaking attackonly appears in the first phase of the fight, it is not necessary for all three players to run Lightning. Instead, consider using other status effects like Poison, Rot, Bleed, Frostbite, or Sleep. Each of these has the same chance to be inflicted, and stacking at least two of them allows you to apply pressure and deal considerable damage, especially in the final phase.
Frostbite and Bleed are especially useful thanks to the raw damage burst and the Frostbite debuff applied to the boss.
Because the boss is vulnerable to so many status effects and Lightning is also viable, you have a wide range of setups to choose from. Just do not forget to bring at least one reliable source of Lightning damage. If you do not want to risk entering an expedition and hoping to find a Lightning weapon there, consider selecting a Relic that guaranteesLightning SlashorThunderbolton your starting armament. That way, you will always have an off-hand weapon capable of countering Fulghor’s stance.
How To Beat Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight
Counters, Team Comps, & Best Strategies For Darkdrift Knight (Everdark Sovereign)
Similar to theEverdark Sovereign Gaping Jawfight, the battle with Fulghor starts from the second phase of the original encounter. Darkdrift Knight also features a new phase that restores the centaur to his former glory.
Phase Two Strategy
The phase starts with the boss having a tentacle claw arm and attempting a slam attack with a relatively wide radius.Fulghor frequently follows up horizontal sweep attacks with a minor slam, a pattern that can take some time to get used to. If you have fought the normal version of Fulghor multiple times, you likely already have a sense of the dodge timing for these moves.
The boss also uses the Golden Charge attack, where he steps back briefly and then begins charging around the arena three times before planting his weapon into the ground, causing a large golden blast. To avoid taking damage from the charges, roll to the side as he approaches and then run to either side to steer clear of the golden trail left behind. If Fulghor targets you for all three charges, you will need to repeat this process each time.
Perhaps the most important move to watch for is the Golden Stance attack.Whenever the boss points his weapon at the ground, you must be ready touse your Lightning weaponto interrupt him immediately. If you fail to do so, the upward-shooting golden lances can deal heavy damage and make the rest of the fight far more difficult, with Fulghor continuing his assault uninterrupted.
Phase Three Strategy
The second phase of this fight is where the new attacks begin and everything turns truly golden. The boss levitates and regains his original arm, unleashing a fresh set of abilities. One of the most notable is an attack where golden projectiles rain down from the sky at Fulghor’s location and then begin moving towards the players. This is not something you can afford to tank. When you see him begin the animation, the best option is to create some distance. Once the initial projectiles near the boss are done and begin to track outward, circle around them and close in on him.
Fulghor also fires a golden projectile, similar to an arrow shot, at any player in close range. It is a single projectile and relatively easy to dodge. In addition, the boss charges his twinblades with golden energy and performs rapid combos. One combo is brief and ends with a slam, while the other is much longer, with only a small break in between swings that gives you a window to escape. If you are being targeted by the longer combo, it is best to separate from your teammates so you don’t drag them into the chain of attacks.
Perhaps the most dangerous move in Fulghor’s arsenal is when he flies into the airlike a majestic stallion and hovers momentarily to aim a bow-like projectile. During this animation, a player will be marked, letting everyone know who the target is. Fulghor then launches a powerful projectile that explodes on impact and affects a wide area.If you are the target, you must sprint away immediately, as the boss locks onto an area near you and gives only a few seconds before unleashing the meteor-like blast.
Even if you are not the intended target, it is wise to stay alert and steer clear of wherever Fulghor appears to be aiming.
Best Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight Team Comps
A lot of Nightfarers are quite effective against this boss, so most team compositions can work well here. One solid setup is Guardian with a Recluse and Ironeye. This team gives you a reliable frontline that can pull aggro by constantly guarding (thanks to a Relic ability) and can block most attacks while taking minimal damage.Recluse and Ironeye will handle the majority of your damage output, withIroneye focusing on placing marksand breaking them to trigger staggers.
Characters likeWylder and Executor are also strong options, as they allow you to bring multiple elemental damage types. For example, Wylder’s follow-up attack deals fire damage in addition to the status effect from the weapon itself.
If you want to try a more unconventional andfun composition, you can go with a triple Raider team. Since Raider is one of the most consistent and dependable Nightfarers, the boss fight becomes surprisingly manageable, and the amount of stagger the group can build up will cause the boss to be stance-broken multiple times throughout the encounter.
