During a fan interaction at a convention,Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flagvoice actor Matt Ryan dropped a potential tease that the game could be receiving a remake. Ryan, who portraysAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flagmain protagonist Edward Kenway, stated that fans who beat the game once may have to do so again, but could not elaborate further.
Born in Wales in 1693, Captain Edward Kenway was the grandfather ofAssassin’s Creed 3’s protagonist, Connor Kenway, and, in turn, an ancestor of Desmond Miles. Edward Kenway started his career as a Royal Navy privateer before turning to piracy and finding himself embroiled in the power struggle between the Assassins and the Templars during the events ofAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. With plenty ofmemorable quotes credited to Edward Kenway’s name, the pirate captain eventually joined the British Brotherhood of Assassins and rose to the rank of Master Assassin before his death at the hands of the Templars in 1735.
Although rumors have persisted about a potential remake for years, a recent interaction with a voice actor is the latest piece ofstacking evidence forAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flagto be remade for modern platforms. A video clip of Welsh actor Matt Ryan, who portrays Edward Kenway, was shared by Twitter user SuperDropKick17 following a fan interaction at a Nightmare Weekend convention. During an autograph session, Ryan asked a fan if they’d beatenAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flagbefore, to which they responded they had. Ryan then remarked that they “may have to beat it again” for reasons that he could not say. As of this writing, Ubisoft has not officially revealed any news concerning a remake ofAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, so all rumors must be taken with a pinch of salt.
Edward Kenway Voice Actor Matt Ryan Teases A Potential Remake
In response to the video clip,Assassin’s Creedfans expressed their excitement about aBlack Flagremake tease coming from Edward Kenway’s voice actor. WhileBlack Flagremains one of the best-knownopen-world games with an emphasis on portraying a pirateand exploring uncharted waters for treasure and glory, the game’s graphics and gameplay from 2013 can be jarring for some players to experience. Between that and the enhanced capabilities of modern consoles and graphics cards, a remake ofAssassin’s Creed 4: Black Flagwould allow newer fans to experience the game on higher-powered hardware.
With fans praisingBlack Flag’s naval elements and focus on the high seas, the fourth numberedAssassin’s Creedtitle remains one of the highest-rated in the franchise. Only time will tell what plans Ubisoft has in store.
