Techland has revealedDying Light 2Update 1.23’s patch notes, heralding the start of the UGC Fest, an event focused on community-created content. The update reinforces Techland’s long-standing commitment to supportingDying Light 2: Stay Human, which the studio previously promised to maintain for at least five years.

The entireDying Lightfranchise has seen an uptick in activity over the past few weeks, a trend that can likely be attributed to the impending release ofDying Light: The Beast, set to launch on Jun 04, 2025. Just a couple of days ago,Techland announced the Retouched Update forDying Light, a comprehensive visual upgrade that increases texture quality across the board to “create a sharper, better look” for the now 10-year-old title.

In a recentblog post on the officialDying Lightwebsite, Techland revealed the patch notes forDying Light 2Summer Update 1.23 alongside the commencement announcement for the UGC Fest, a celebratory event highlighting the game’s thriving modding community. In terms of patch notes, Update 1.23 mainly consists of bug fixes and minor quality-of-life improvements, but one big gameplay change stands out:Dying Light 2’s default immunity timerhas been increased by 50%. This tweak significantly increases how long players can stay outdoors at night before infection begins to set in.

The headliner for theDying Light 2Summer Update 1.23 is the UGC Fest, a 4-week-long event with a rotating schedule that will feature community-made maps made usingDying Light 2map editor Techland has made available to the public via Steam, allowing for custom-map creation. Each week, three new user-generated maps will be the focus, with players being tasked with completing bounties within them to earn exclusive in-game rewards. The bounties will need to be triggered from Pilgrim Outpost, one of Techland’s websites, before they become available in-game. The event kicks off today, June 26, and will last until July 23.

Update 1.23 will also feature a collaboration with theindie hitBalatro, titled the “Friend of Aiden Bundle,” offeringDying Light 2players the Jimbo Outfit, the Ceremonial Dagger, the Flying Blind Paraglider, and the Joker Charm. TheseBalatro-themed additions can be acquired by completing two short side quests that can be triggered by interacting with newly added posters in two locations. One is located in the Bazaar (Trinity), while the other can be found in the Fish Eye Settlement (New Dawn Park). Though most of these new items are purely cosmetic, the Joker Charm offers 12 unique gameplay-impacting effects that are randomly chosen every time the Charm is crafted.
