Dungeons and Dragonshas officially revealed some of the new content coming inEberron: Forge of the Artificer, including the revised Artificer class, over 20 monsters from the setting, and tons of species, backgrounds, and feats for players to pick from. Earlier this year,Dungeons and DragonsconfirmedEberron: Forge of the Artificerwould be releasing on August 19. Nothing was previously confirmed about it, but an updated version of the Artificer class using the 2024 rules refresh appeared in an Unearthed Arcana, all but confirming it would be printed in the sourcebook.
With the book’s release just around the corner,Dungeons and Dragonshas officially started showing off what is coming inEberron: Forge of the Artificer. This book contains a bevy of character options, including therevamped version ofDungeons and Dragons' Artificer classand its five subclasses, five revised species, 17 backgrounds, 28 dragonmark feats, bastion options, magical inventions, and even a new spell. For dungeon masters, three campaign frameworks inspired by the magicpunk intrigue of Eberron can be used alongside over 20 monster stat blocks to run games set in the setting, or to enrich those in other worlds.
The species available inEberron: Forge of the Artificerare revamps of popular options from the old rules. Changelings and Shifters only changed slightly from theirMordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverseiterations, while Kalashtar and Warforged received a handful of tweaks – most notably the fact that the former now count as Aberrations, while the latter are Constructs. The Khoravar is a new playable species specific to Eberron that is very similar to the oldHalf-Elf option race from classicDungeons and Dragons5th Edition, both thematically and mechanically.
Warforged
Considering their prominence in the setting of Eberron, the dragonmarked houses play a major role in this book and are the framework for both the new backgrounds and feats. Though previous dragonmark character options were limited by species, these dragonmark feats can be chosen by anyone, which would manifest as a Mark of Prophecy, often seen as a rare magic anomaly or even a Draconic Prophecy, in the setting’s lore.D&D’s Eberron Unearthed Arcana featured 28 dragonmarked feats, so fans can expect these feats to officially appear in their finalized versions in this book.
Eberron: Forge of the Artificerreleases on August 19 and isavailable for pre-order onD&D Beyond, and where other TTRPG products are sold. After that, theHeroes of the Borderlands Starter Setdrops on September 16, an unnamed book in October, and theForgotten Realms Player’s GuideandAdventure Guideon November 11.
