ADragon Age: The Veilguardfan found the BioWare RPG on a clearance sale for $9. Though the AAA game came out less than a year ago, some vendors are already sellingDragon Age: The Veilguardat shockingly low prices.
When it was released on Halloween 2024,Dragon Age: The Veilguardinstantly divided the gaming community. Many people had nothing butpositive things to say aboutDragon Age: The Veilguard, while others were not impressed. Sadly, sales numbers supported the latter viewpoint, with EA declaring the game a commercial failure.
It was only a matter of months beforeDragon Age: The Veilguardstarted going on sale, but one player may have found the lowest discount for BioWare’s troubled RPG yet.Dragon Agefan and Redditor 1heavyarms3 recently shared an image ofThe Veilguardat a local store on clearance for $8.99. At launch,The Veilguardretailed for $60 at most locations, making this an 85% discount just over eight months after the RPG’s initial release.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard On Sale for Less Than $10
In the post, 1heavyarms3 lamentedDragon Age: The Veilguard, hoping BioWare would learn from its mistakes and “do better next time and not just kill the franchise.” The original poster also admitted they had purchased theDragon Age: The VeilguardCollector’s Edition, but never actually finished the game, as they found it unsatisfactory. Their fellow gamers joined in the sorrow, sharing their own opinions ofThe Veilguard– both positive and negative – with some disappointed they had to pay full price when it ended up dropping so quickly after, while others found a silver lining in that players who could not afford to buy the AAA RPG at the time will be able to now.
While it may be sad to see such a highly-anticipated game fall from grace,The Veilguardis still finding success to this day. Though it did even get nominated for The Game Awards’ Game of the Year 2024,Dragon Age: The Veilguarddid recently win GotY at the Gayming Awards. Protagonist Rook also took home the Best LGBTQ+ Character award, with one of their voice actors, Erika Ishii, claiming the Best LGBTQ+ Voice Actor of the Year award.
Unfortunately,The Veilguard’s woes are only one part of BioWare’s recent problems.EA recently announcedAnthemwill sunset in January 2026, taking the game offline forever. Players have begun signing petitions to preserve the equally-troubled 2019 third-person shooter in an offline mode in some fashion, but it remains to be seen if BioWare will acquiesce to these demands beforeAnthemgoes dark next year.
