What is Drain Vitality?

Drain Vitality is a passive skill forNecromancer builds inDiablo 4. It gives you Lucky Hit, a chance on hit to fortify you. In order to trigger it, you have to hit an enemy with a Blood Skill, and it grants you Fortify of between 2.5% of your life at the lowest level to 7.5% at the highest. Fortify ensures that you take less damage; once you have as much Fortify as Life, you will take 15% less overall damage.

In order to unlock Drain Vitality, you need to unlock the fifth level of the skill tree, then look to the right of the main track. You need at least one of the skills in the tree below it in order to get it.

Is Drain Vitality Good for Blood Necromancer Builds in Diablo 4?

The answer issometimes. The skills you have to nab in order to get it are great; below it is Coalesced Blood, which increases your damage when Healthy, so you don’t have to spend points on useless skills to get to it. Healthy is aDiablo 4status effectthat means you have 80% or more of your health remaining. If you already have a good source of Fortify, this skill will be pretty useless to you; however, those who are looking for a little more Fortify for their build, this skill can help a lot.

The best use ofDrain Vitality is forBlood Surge builds. Since you hit often using Blood attacks with Unique Gloves Cruor’s Embrace, you will be not only dealing the extra damage from Coalesced Blood, but also you will have a boost in your shield to keep a somewhat squishy class alive and well.

Blood Wavebuilders, however, will see less use from Drain Vitality, since the main Blood skill for this build has a cooldown with the animation lock. You could probably use some levels in Drain Vitality until you manage to nab aMutilator Plate, which will be all the Fortify you should need.
