With gear sets, gear tiers, and the new Armor 3.0 character stats encouraging players to hunt down a whole new inventory of new and improved loot, this once again makes the lack of expanded vault space in The Edge of Fate expansion forDestiny 2a controversy waiting to happen.
Destiny 2’s New Armor 3.0 Upgrade Solves One Problem, But Reintroduces Another
Now that legendary class items inDestiny 2can have a variety of unique gear set bonuses andArmor 3.0 character stats, this finally gives players a reason to collect multiple legendary class items. Whereas before, legendary class items all had the same character stats, and their only distinction was that some of them offered reputation or loot bonuses for specific activities. So, with the old Armor 2.0 system, players only ever needed to keep a small handful of legendary class items, and anything beyond this could be safely dismantled.
Destiny 2’s Edge of Fate Expansion Not Adding More Vault Space May Come Back to Bite It
Legendary class items aren’t the only new loot that players will want to chase when this expansion arrives. From this point onwards, all legendary armor sets will have a gear set bonus, as well as a gear tier, and a random selection of character stats. This new gear tiering system is also coming to weapons, too. Overall, players will have a virtually unlimited supply of new and improved gear to collect, and this new generation of buildcrafting tools will only continue to grow throughoutDestiny 2’s Year of Prophecy. After Destiny 2’s ‘Sunset Reversal’ Controversy, Players Won’t Give Up Their Old Gear So Easily
It ultimately seems like only a matter of time until the new generation of buildcrafting tools in The Edge of Fate expansion forDestiny 2will eventually replace players' existing meta weapons and armor. However, even long after this time comes, many players will likely want to keep their hard-earned, god-roll legendary weapons and artifice armor safely stored, just in case this old gear one day makes a comeback as the new meta. While this may sound far-fetched, this same thing recently happened withDestiny 2’s Sunset reversal controversy, where the restrictions placed on old gear were abruptly removed, and these armor and weapons were once again made viable in endgame content.
Hence, the Sunset reversal controversy arguably makes longtime players justified in not wanting to free up vault space inDestiny 2by permanently deleting their old gear, especially since the majority of this gear can no longer be reacquired now that The Final Shape expansion has been released. Unfortunately, this makes thenew meta buildcrafting tools inDestiny 2seem like a controversy waiting to happen, despite how powerful they may be.
