Bungie has outlined several important fixes coming toDestiny 2in the week following the launch ofThe Edge of Fate, with some fixes arriving as soon as July 18. The upcoming fixes and changes will address issues thatDestiny 2players have been experiencing in the past few days, including bugs that block progression in the campaign ofThe Edge of Fate.
Released on July 15,Destiny 2: The Edge of Fatebrings players to Kepler, a new destination located on the outskirts of the solar system. The expansion serves as the start of the new multi-year Fate saga and introduces a new mystery involving the Nine, a new character named Lodi, and Orin the Lost, who fans once knew as the Emissary of the Nine. This is in addition to regular content updates and additions thatDestiny 2players typically expect with expansions, such as new activities, legendary weapons and gear, and Exotics, to name a few. However, the launch ofDestiny 2: The Edge of Fatewasn’t perfect, as players have been dealing with numerous bugs in the past few days, including some that prevent them from progressing the campaign.
On July 17, the officialDestiny 2Team Twitter account confirmed that the developers at Bungie are investigating issue reports from players and have already identified the causes of various issues affecting the game post-The Edge of Fate. Although dates and times are subject to change, Bungie outlined important fixes coming toDestiny 2over the course of the next week and a half, starting with a hotfix aimed for release before July 19. The hotfix will bring fixes to a progression-blocking bug that affectsThe Edge of Fatecampaign missionswith players' secondary characters, a bug that wipes Unstable Cores from a player’s inventory when creating an alternate character, and bugs that crashDestiny 2on Xbox consoles.
Bungie is planning to release Destiny 2 hotfix 9.0.0.3 on July 22 with fixes for incorrect ammo gains on Area-Denial Grenade Launchers, Rocket Sidearms, and Rocket Launchers with the Bipod perk. The new hotfix will also address performance issues inDestiny 2: The Edge of Fate’sKepler destination, such as soft-locks and crashes. The Third Iteration Scout Rifle will also receive fixes.
One week later, Bungie plans to release hotfix 9.0.0.4, which has fixes for motion sickness-inducing issues and visual glitches affectingDestiny 2: The Edge of Fate’sMatterspark ability.Destiny 2players can also expect a fix to Holofoil visuals and the Tangled Web perk, which were not working as intended.
Moreover, Bungie acknowledged that there are high-priority issues that are still being investigated, and release dates for subsequent updates will be revealed in the near future. These issues include audio bugs on PlayStation 5 consoles, crashes when entering the Tower on PlayStation 4, and bugs that prevent players from relaunchingThe Edge of Fatecampaign missions after leaving them early.
