Bungie has finally revealed how exotic armor exclusive to the next expansion forDestiny 2will work when it is released. The highly anticipated expansion Edge of Fate is scheduled for release on July 15. While some exotics have been revealed already, this is the first time Bungie has shown the function of new exotic armor inDestiny 2.
The developer recently revealedexotic armor changes in theDestiny 2expansion, and while a lot of details were provided at that time, the armor was not shown in action. The main detail revealed was that many pieces of exotic armor are being reworked for the Edge of Fate expansion, but it was not explained exactly how those changes would impact gameplay. Although fans are still curious about exactly what to expect, this latest information should at least answer a few of the more pressing questions fromDestiny 2players.
During a developer live streamon June 24, Bungie explained how each new piece of exotic armor works inDestiny 2: Edge of Fate. The first new piece of armor for Warlocks is Eunoia, which is a solar gauntlet that improves the Hellion class ability, making the Hellion mortar shatter into enemy-seeking projectiles upon impact. The second is a strand chest called Moirai, and it allows Hunters to use a Threaded Spike melee move to detonate a Tangle and return it to the player. Finally, Titans can look forward to Melas Panoplia, a solar gauntlet that allows players to become a Forge Master and essentially turn the Throwing Hammer into a boomerang; when performed with perfect timing, this move will also cause an explosion that will increase the amount of time that Forge Master is active.
New Exotic Armor in Destiny 2 Concerns Some Fans
While these new pieces of exotic armor certainly give players interesting new abilities, someDestiny 2fans fear that melee nerfswill result in less impressive damage. From a very general perspective, these new pieces of exotic armor add fun and creative elements to the gameplay, but many fans are still concerned about how these new changes will impact the game’s difficulty level.
In a recent blog post,Bungie confirmed changes to the damage systemthat could severely impact the effectiveness of melee attacks. At least two of these new pieces of armor use melee capabilities, so the fears ofDestiny 2players aren’t unfounded. That said, only a few people have actually had an opportunity to play Edge of Fate yet, so it remains to be seen whether these concerns will prove accurate.
