Losing a dear friend that unfortunate evening has left a lasting impression on the demon slayer as he struggles to accept that he is worthy of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the Hashira.
Why did I forget that exchange with Sabito? It’s important. I didn’t want to remember because my tears would never stop. When I did remember, I was so sad I couldn’t do anything. Tsutako. Sabito. I’m sorry I’m so immature.
But as Tomioka finds himself up against Upper Moon Threein the Infinity Castle, he will no longer have the luxury of self-doubt. Pushed to surpass his physical limits and fighting alongside a marked demon slayer, the Water Hashira will finally awaken the Demon Slayer Mark. Tomioka with the mark will surpass all his physical limitations and move at blinding speeds that will even shock Akaza. His endurance will be just as amazing, allowing him to fight in circumstances that will defy logic.
Apart from becoming extremely tough and strong, Tomioka will also be able to getthe Bright Red Nichirin Sword. In that state, the katanas used by the demon slayers gain incredible properties including the ability to slow down the regenerative powers of a demon. In some cases, the Bright Red Nichirin Sword can even nullify the regeneration leaving the demon riddled with serious injuries.
The Curse of the Mark and Tomioka’s Fate
A Harsh Reality Awaits Water Hashira After Final Battle
While Giyu will get access to quite a few interesting powers, he will still not beable to use the Transparent Worldfor some mysterious reason. It’s possible that for him the circumstances were just not right to use the ability. But that would be the least of Tomioka’s worries as he will come to learn the horrific reality of awakening a Demon Slayer Mark.
I must pass on what was entrusted to me. Never again will I let family and friends die before my eyes. I’ll save him. I will save Tanjiro the same way I was saved.
Every demon slayer who gets the mark dies before the age of 25. Those who awaken it after turning 25, die within a few hours. The onlyexception to this rule is Yoriichibecause he was born with the mysterious marking and did not awaken it.
While Giyu survives the final battle, his fate will be sealed because of the aforementioned reasons. The only other way to avoid death after getting the mark is by turning into a demon, which won’t be possible once Muzan is gone. So, Tomioka will die before he turns 25, which means he would have about 3 years to live after the final battle. But knowing him, Giyu will be relieved as he would wish to reunite with his comrades in the afterlife, having lost too many of them in the fight for humanity.
