While Akaza, Doma, andKaigaku are first confronted byTanjiro, Shinobu, and Zenitsu, respectively, Kokushibo’s adversary has not been revealed. However, according to the manga, the first demon slayer to run into him will be Muichiro. But is the Flame Hashira strong enough to take on Upper Moon One?
Muichiro Tokito: The Mist Hashira
The Most Talented Swordsmen of the Taisho Era
Muichiro Tokito has always been an enigma. His air-headed and aloof nature made him quite unapproachable. It always seemed that he was unsure of his own identity and could not quite figure out his purpose. Tokito transformed into a superior combatant after regaining memories of his past and realizing how losing his twin brother had pushed him to become a demon slayer.
Just like master said, if you recover your confidence… you’re able to dig in with both feet and use your full strength. If you know who you are then no demon can run when you bring down a blade that knows no hesitation or confusion. ~ Muichiro Tokito
Muichiro was a gifted swordsman andbecame a Hashira in just two monthsafter picking up a sword. Typically, a demon slayer has to work hard for years before they can even be considered to be worthy of becoming the highest-ranking combatants. But Tokito pulled it off in just a few weeks, which speaks volumes about his talent.
Muichiro went on to refine his techniques over time to establish himself as one of the best demon slayers of the Taisho era. Despite his young age, he is the only swordsman of the current generation who has defeated an Upper Moon alone. Tokito is also the first Hashira toawaken a Demon Slayer Mark. The Mist Hashira may look small and frail, but his talent is unparalleled. Very few swordsmen in history can even dream of coming close to his combat prowess.
Kokushibo: The Upper Rank One of the Twelve Kizuki
The Upper Moon One
Kokushibo is one of the oldest demons. He joined Muzan’s forces during the Sengoku era and has been around for centuries. Back in the day, he used to be a talented swordsman, but his fear of death pushed him to accept Kibutsuji’s offer.
Over time,Kokushibo has become the Demon King’s most trusted allyand has played a crucial role in ensuring that his reign of terror endures through the ages.
Infinity Castle Movie is All Set to Reveal Who is Stronger
Muichiro Tokito Faces His Greatest Challenge
As mentioned earlier, Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito will be the first demon slayer to confront Upper Rank One, Kokushibo. Although the former hasalready defeated Gyokko alone, fighting Kokushibo is far more challenging. Tokito is lucky that he has manifested the Demon Slayer Mark already, as fighting an Upper Moon without it can be suicidal.
However, the mark can only go so far.Kokushibo has refined his swordsmanship for centuriesand understands every technique that someone of even Muichiro’s caliber can come up with. Furthermore, his frightening speed is so overwhelming that even the Hashira cannot keep up with it.
What makes Upper Moon One truly frightening is the fact that he can use breathing styles like his adversaries. Moreover, he can also access the Transparent World since he had manifested a Demon Slayer Mark when he was a swordsman. As if these skills already do not make him seem invincible, Kokushibo, like his peers, can also use Blood Demon Art.
Muichiro Tokito might be one of the most talented demon slayers to have ever existed, but even then, facing Kokushibo alone puts him in grave danger. He will have to reinvent swordsmanship to even stand achance of hurting the Upper Moon. The good news is that he has surprised fans in the past by defeating Gyokko alone.
The battle ahead for the Mist Hashira is perhaps his greatest challenge yet, but among the demon slayers of the current generation, only he has the talent to pull off the impossible. It remains to be seen if he will be able to step up to the challenge or if the power difference will be too overwhelming for him.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy’s first installment is scheduled to be released in the United States onSeptember 12, 2025.
