Mere days ahead of its international launch,Death Stranding 2leaked online, with the game’s opening hoursurfacing on YouTube, uploaded by channel @arielnavarrorg. While media outlets have had access to review copies of the game for some time, the leak does not appear to stem from a broken NDA, but rather from aretailer breaking the street dateand shipping copies early. Regardless, the leaked footage is likely to get hit with a copyright takedown before long.

New Death Stranding 2 Leak Is Entirely in Spanish

Without spoiling anything, the leaked opening hour of the game is heavy on the cutscenes, thus being consistent with Hideo Kojima’s signature style of gamemaking. Fans turning to the leak for an early preview ofDeath Stranding 2’s storymay need to turn on YouTube’s auto-generated subtitles, as the recently shared footage was captured while playing a Spanish dub of the game. The majority of the opening sequence is set in a desert location that was already seen in multiple prior trailers and other promotional materials for the game.

At the very start of the leaked clip, as soon as the player assumes control of Sam Porter Bridges, the game notifies them about a new update being available for download. The prompt is a strong indicator that the author is playing aphysical copy ofDeath Stranding 2offline, suggesting that some retailer breaking the game’s street date is responsible for this leak. The message itself doesn’t provide any specifics as to the identity of the said update. A patch identified by version number 1.003.000 appeared online this Friday, June 20, which may be the release that the prompt seen in the leaked footage is referring to. No official changelog detailing this update has yet been shared by Kojima Productions.

Death Stranding 2preloads have been live since June 17. The initial version of the game is 91.476GB in size. The 1.003.000 update weighs an additional 861.7MB, though it reportedly mostly replaces some of the game’s existing files rather than adding to its installation size. Like its predecessor,Death Stranding 2is set to debut as a PlayStation exclusive. Given that the original took just over eight months to reach PC, it is plausible the sequel could follow a similar timeline, potentially launching on Steam and the Epic Games Store in early 2026.
