The just-releasedDeath Stranding 2: On the Beachhas received a new minor update for June 2025, with Kojima Productions addressing a game crash occurring when players deliver certain pieces of cargo.Death Stranding 2: On the Beachcame out on June 26 and has been gathering very positive reviews, though players have been reporting some technical issues that the developer is now addressing.
Even before its release,Death Stranding2’s early reviews positioned it as one of the highest-rated games of 2025. Serving as a sequel to Kojima Productions’ 2019 hit, the new game is set 11 months after the original, where main character Sam Porter Bridges works to reconnect humanity via the chiral network. The sequel brings major gameplay enhancements like a monorail system for fast travel, a dynamic day-night cycle that affects enemies, expanded combat and stealth with a skill tree, and more. Now, as players dive into the game to find out what it has in store for them, Kojima Productions is working to solve some of the game’s issues.
Death Stranding 2update 1.005 addresses an annoying issue where the game would crash when players delivered pieces of cargo. The update’s size is a mere 397.8 MB, and unfortunately for players, there are still a few other issues unresolved. There seems to be a problem introduced in patch 1.04 that’s negatively affectingDeath Stranding 2’s PS5 Pro performance mode, where the UI is displayed at a low resolution. In addition to this, in aReddit post, more players have been listing other issues they hope the developer will address soon, such as a few bugs and additional performance problems.
Recently,Hideo Kojima thanked players for supportingDeath Stranding 2after its lengthy development, which was considerably affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The director revealed that there was a time when he thought he would never finish the game, and in a previous statement, he said he had decided to rewrite the whole game’s narrative at one point during development.
But it looks like Kojima wanted to go the extra mile with the game and made more fundamental changes during the playtesting stage.Kojima was concerned thatDeath Stranding 2was receiving higher scoresthan the original game, which worried the director, leading him to decide that he had to do something to make the game more polarizing. Whatever changes Kojima decided to implement seem to have worked well, as the game has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews.
