If a BT is unlucky enough to be in the resulting stream, it will wither away as if it were struck by one ofDeath Stranding 2’s many BT-killing weapons, leaving nothing behind except for a holographic mushroom where Sam marked his territory.

The lore explanation for this is that Sam has DOOMs, a rare condition that gives certain people a stronger connection to the world beyond the living. It also makesSam’s bodily fluids deadly to BTs, hence why the firstDeath Strandinggame featured grenades filled with his blood, urine, and fecal matter. All of this would be collected whenever Sam rested and showered in a private room, butDeath Stranding 2has Drawbridge use synthetic blood for the grenades.
Meanwhile, Sam’s DOOMs-infected urine is just as potent as ever for taking out BTs inDeath Stranding 2.
