SPOILER WARNING! This article will contain slight story spoilers about some characters involved in Sam Bridges' story.

Summary

InDeath Stranding 2: On The Beach, it’s important for players to take regular breaks when playing as Sam Bridges, fromdelivering the various parcelsfrom one bunker to the next. Some of these bunkers, or even the DHV Magellan, provide the player with a private room that they can use at their leisure to rest up after a busy day of walking across some of the harshest wilderness in Australia.

However, there is plenty more to do in these private rooms than just sleep inDeath Stranding 2. Players will find themselves customizing Sam’s appearance, chatting with certain characters, and much more that make these private rooms something players should make the most of while on their adventure. These are some things a player can do in the private rooms of Australia and Mexico.

8Sleep Away The Hours

Being Well-Restored Is Important For Travel

As mentioned, one of the primary reasons for using private rooms inDeath Stranding 2is so Sam can rest after a hard day or night of delivering cargo from one place to the next. There are various moments in the game where the main story encourages the player to rest in the DHV Magellan or in a private room in a bunker to push the story forward, though even outside this, sleeping is important.

Players can rest not only to regain their lost stamina andreplenish their blood levels, but also to skip forward in time if they find themselves traveling during the night, which makes it hard to navigate. However, players can even sleep until the evening, as the cover of darkness can also keep them hidden from various enemies.

7Take A Shower And Use The Bathroom

Wash Off The Grime While Earning Some Extra Chiral Crystals

AlthoughDeath Stranding 2may not use the grenades that were made out of Sam’s pee, there is stilla reason for using the showerand toilet whenever the player returns to a private room around the world. Not only does taking this time create a bit of immersion for the player, but showering is essential for Sam.

Not only does a few moments under the shower head clean up any of the dirt, sand, or tar Sam may have been covered in during his travels, but it’s also a great way for the player to heal their sunburn and collect a few extra Chiral Crystals. The longer Sam is traveling, the more dust he picks up on his skin, which, when showering, is stored. These crystals are important for fabricating equipment as well as being able to hold more cargo.

6Test Out Unlocked Weapons

Practice Different Weaponry In VR

While many players may have avoided combat at all costs in the firstDeath Stranding, the latest title by Hideo Kojima encourages players to try out all sorts of weaponry, both during boss battles and when taking on the various Brigand bases around Australia. With so many weapons to try out, those who don’t want to waste any bullets can visit a private room to make the most of their VR equipment.

Here, players can use any weapon they have unlocked, even if they have never fabricated one, and go up against various enemies in the game. This isn’t only a great way to test out weapons, but also brilliant for learning what the weak spots are for enemies.

5Decorate The Walls With Photos Taken

Display Some Of The Fondest Memories

Although this isn’t possible to do on the walls of the DHV Magellan, visiting any large facility with a private room allows the player to add their own little customization to the place through photos. As players continue their adventure, they will be sent various pictures by NPCs that they can display on the wall to remember their fondest memories.

Players can even use their own photos they have taken while using theincredibly detailed photo modeinDeath Stranding 2: On The Beachto bring a little of the outdoors into this private room with its metal walls. What makes it even better is that players don’t need to keep doing this for each facility, as, somehow, they are all set with the same photos the player has used.

4Customize Sam’s Look

Glasses, Hats, And Suits Can All Be Changed

Even Sam deserves to be stylish when traveling across countries like Australia, and, thankfully, the people living in the facilities are happy to oblige by occasionally gifting Sam with various accessories to personalize his look. When inside a private room, the player can either use the mirror or look to their right at their suit to choose from various bits of clothing to dress Sam up.

From suits with set colors, to various hats and glasses with a few color options, players can truly make Sam feel like their own character while also potentially protecting him from the harsh weather he is likely to face.

3Drink Plenty Of Tea

Each Can Of Tea Boosts Stamina

Sam only has so much stamina that he can use while out exploring. Every timethe player sprints, walks, or drags their feetthrough water, Sam expends some of this stamina as the bar slowly decreases. The longer Sam is out exploring, the bar will also deplete, making the weight of the cargo he carries so much heavier.

As mentioned, sleeping is one way to replenish this lost stamina, though players can boost this bar above average in other ways inside their private room. On the table next to them are three cans of Chiral Tea. Each can boost the stamina bar past its regular max by a small percentage. By drinking all three cans, the player can hit the max. These cans will then be replenished the next time they go to a private room.

Dollman talking to Sam in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

2Take A Moment To Chat With Dollman

It’s Important To Touch Base From Time To Time

Another change from the firstDeath Strandingis that players no longer feel entirely alone when making deliveries. InDeath Stranding 2: On The Beach, it isn’t just Sam and Lou anymore; they have a third addition to the team called Dollman. As his name suggests, Dollman is a little puppet man who was once a living human whose Ka was trapped inside a doll.

Unlike Lou, who can only make various baby gurgles, Dollman can talk to Sam about the various experiences they have gone through together, with being inside the private room being a perfect time to sit down together and chat.

1Check In On Lou

Daddy-Daughter Bonding Still Continues This Trip

Even after Sam and Lou had thought they had escaped from delivering any more cargo, they were called upon again to connect the entirety of Australia together. With Sam now forming an incredibly close bond with Lou, viewing her as his daughter, there isn’t a chance that he would go on that trip alone.

A part of this bond is incredibly sad with the events that occur inDeath Stranding 2, which leads to Sam carrying around the empty pod of Lou while imagining that she is still in it. On one final trip together, players can check in on Sam’s baby while inside their private room, gently soothing the childin their free time away from any other dangers.
