This year’s Anime Expo revealed some majorCyberpunk 2077news, as the second season ofEdgerunnershas been confirmed. The anime spin-off ofCyberpunk 2077made waves on Netflix back in 2022. After the season’s heartbreaking finale, many fans were left wondering if there would be a second chapter, and now those questions have finally been answered.
As exciting asEdgerunners 2is, the first teaser trailer for the series confirmed what many feared: David is definitely dead. Of course, it was pretty clear-cut after the finale that he wouldn’t be coming back, but the fact that it’s been made fully official still stings. However, this has paved the way for a brand-new cast of characters to take center stage.Edgerunners 2is a standalone story, meaning a new protagonist will soon be introduced, alongside a supporting cast that, according to the season’s promo image, may consist of 8 characters.

Deciphering Edgerunners 2’s Promo Image is No Easy Task
In addition to a short teaser trailer,Edgerunners 2has also released a beautifully drawn promo image that teases some yet-to-be-revealed faces. An eye-popping mixture of black, white, red, and touches of neon yellow and green, the first promotional poster forEdgerunners 2is incredibly abstract, but there are several faces and bodies that can be picked out among the mind-bending art style. Between the reveal ofEdgerunners 2andCyberpunk 2077’s upcoming 2.3 patch, fans of the sci-fi franchise have a lot to celebrate.
Edgerunners 2’s trailer actually shows a lineup of 11 character silhouettes, but the main promo image emphasizes 8.
Mysterious Figures Will Help Tell Edgerunners 2’s Story
When looking at the promo image, the clear standout is a small person holding a camera, but this particular individual will be saved for discussion later. The image showcases a clashing series of skyscrapers andpieces of Night Citythat morph into one another, eventually creating character silhouettes. One of the most prominent can be seen on the left side of the image, thanks to their piercing eyes. This could be teasing a character with powerful eye cyberware.
Another clear figure is in the center of the image. Most likely male, they are wearing a raggedy trench coat and holding a gun. Based on the coat,the character is likely a Nomador maybe even a Streetkid. In the top left corner is a striking silhouette that boasts some seriously spiky hair whose posture implies confidence. In the top right corner is the side of a character’s face who appears to look female with longer hair and also a potential piece of eye cyberware.
The hardest ones to make out are the three silhouettes at the bottom of the image, as most of their features are completely hidden by shadow. The character at the bottom left almost looks to be wearing a hat, possibly maybe even a cowboy hat. A cyber-enhanced cowboy would be a lot of fun, but this is simply speculation. The figure in the middle looks to be a balding man with glasses, which could point to a role as a Ripperdoc or Fixer. Finally, the silhouette on the bottom right is almost impossible to decipher, except for the fact that their shoulder appears to be a suit,implying a Corpo.
Edgerunners 2will run for 10 episodes.
Who is the Young Kid With the Camera?
This is the biggest mystery of all, as this character is the central focus of both the teaser trailer and the promo image. This young boy or girl is likely the protagonist, and if a kid is leading the tale,Edgerunners 2could be particularly heartbreaking.Cyberpunk 2077’s world is cutthroat, and seeing that through the eyes of a child would definitely prove early reports thatEdgerunners 2is “more raw, more grounded.”
