Cyberpunk 2077fans have a great week ahead as the long-awaited patch 2.3 finally drops July 17. Fans have been expecting patch 2.3 after a delay that’s lasted nearly a month. Switch 2Cyberpunk 2077fans will need to wait just a bit longer, but will also be getting the patch in the near future.
There were a lot ofexpectations forCyberpunk 2077Patch 2.3, as some speculated that it may be as big as an entire game. CD Projekt RED’s livestream revealed details about the patch with a short trailer and a live-streamed discussion between its game developers and community managers. The update will include a massive update to vehicle customization, a range of quality-of-life fixes, and new features that will make travel in Night City easier than ever before.
Vehicle Enthusiasts Will Have a Field Day with Patch 2.3
One group of fans will especially love this update as it gives vehicles a massive upgrade with overhauls to vehicle customization, four new vehicles, and a new cab service. More changes include additional options in photo mode, some quality of life improvements, and VRR on consoles.
The new vehicles cost a bit more than some eddies, and require the completion of new quests to unlock them. It’s unclear if the vehicles themselves will be a reward for the side quests, or if they are unlocked as a bonus. Savvy fans will notice that one of the four new vehicles, the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru, appeared in the comic bookCyberpunk 2077: Kickdown.
Additional CrystalCoat customization
Alongside the autodrive feature and cab services are new Rayfield CrystalCoat options for most vehicles. CrystalCoat options were originally only available for high-end sports cars, and are now an option for motorcycles and lower-end vehicles. This opens up vehicle customization, with 205 generic and 168 unique options added for nearly every vehicle inCyberpunk 2077.
Vehicles that can’t get the CrystalCoat optionsinclude any Nomad vehicles, which have been excluded for lore reasons, and vehicles that have been heavily modified. All in all, there are 32 vehicles in total that can be customized with CrystalCoat and TwinTone.
Driving in Night City is Now Easier Than Ever
This is a new feature for vehicles that can be activated on any road. Autodrive directs the vehicle to V’s next quest location, but disables it when entering combat or if heavily damaged. This is a small update, but a big help for players who struggle with driving without running over pedestrians or crashing, and overall goes a long way in improving accessibility. Many players use mods to access this feature, andadding autodrive toCyberpunk 2077officially is great news for console players and those who don’t like to use mods.
Another addition in a similar lane is the new Delamain cab service. Cabs can be hailed anywhere and, in true Delamain fashion, are self-driving, getting V to their destination safely. With autodriving now an option, it’s unclear how this service will fit into gameplay but, much like the metro, it’s definitely an option for roleplaying and seeing the city without needing to focus on Night City’s traffic.
Balancing Disappointment
Some fans may be disappointed thatCyberpunk 2077 patch 2.3 is so heavily focused on vehicles, as some were hoping there would be a third-person camera orNG+ added toCyberpunk 2077. Vehicles are an optional feature that some players may not invest in, so the focus on vehicles rather than bringing something else could be a disappointment. However, the self-driving options bring big quality of life changes toCyberpunk 2077.
The addition of more customization essentially means that players can recreate any vehicle they see in Night City, offering immense freedom that is hard to replicate. Updates like a third-person mode or NG+ would be a massive undertaking, and this patch fills a gap that offers players more options and convenience than ever before.
