The 2.3 update forCyberpunk 2077will launch on July 17, but not for all platforms. The release date announcement was accompanied by a complete changelog detailing the upcomingCyberpunk 2077patch.
To date, CD Projekt Red suggested it was done with releasing major updates for its hit dystopian RPG several times.Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.1 update thus already came as a surpriseto some fans in December 2023, as did the 2.2 patch a year later. That update also marked the game’s first revision that was largely made by Virtuos, an international porting powerhouse and support studio that also led the development of the 2.3 patch.
The upcoming update has now been scheduled for a July 17 launch. This is technically its second release date, asCyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 patch was previously targeting a June 26 debutbefore being delayed a few days prior. With the new date announced only 24 hours in advance, its development is ostensibly complete and the likelihood of another delay virtually non-existent.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.3 Update Not Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 Yet
The July 17 release date announcement comes with an asterisk: it does not apply to theSwitch 2 version ofCyberpunk 2077. The recently debuted port landed on Nintendo’s console with the 2.2 update, and while CDPR has confirmed that Switch 2 owners will eventually receive the 2.3 revision, the timing of that rollout remains unclear. On the subject of platforms, the arrival of the new patch will also markCyberpunk 2077’s debut on macOS. While the game will be sold via the Mac App Store, anyone who already owns it via Steam, GOG, or the Epic Games Store will be able to play it on any macOS device that clears its minimum hardware requirements.
Apart from confirming its availability date, CDPR today also shared the complete patch notes detailing the upcoming content drop. The highlights from the changelog include four new vehicles, updates to the CrystalCoat paint system, and Photo Mode improvements, as well as support for new AI-powered graphics technologies like AMD FSR 3.1 frame generation. The 2.3 update also introduces an auto-follow road feature in vehicles, called AutoDrive. Building on this addition, Virtuos even implemented the ability to call a self-driving Delamain cab from anywhere. The game will use aGTA-like cinematic camera during AutoDrive segments.
The newly shared patch notes do not reference mods in any capacity. However, historical precedentsuggests that the 2.3 update will break manyCyberpunk 2077mods. The likelihood of any given community creation no longer working after the update will likely depend on its complexity; simple add-ons such as asset packs or texture swaps may remain functional, while mods that alter gameplay may not be compatible with the upcoming update and will instead require updates themselves.
