After the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC, CD Projekt RED announced that it was done updatingCyberpunk 2077to focus on other projects. Since then, it’s enlisted the help of Virtuos Studios, the developer behindOblivion Remastered, and has updatedCyberpunk 2077several times to the delight of fans, adding additional content like cosmetics, new features, and extra scenes with important NPCs.

The most recent update was patch 2.3, which added cosmetics to vehicles, some new photo mode options, and autodriving. CD Projekt RED has stated that 2.3 would beCyberpunk 2077’s final update, but it has made the statement before and has continued to support the game with updates since, leading many players to disregard such statements and speculate on what else could be added. Since patch 2.3, some players have spottednew billboard ads in Night Citythat they believe could be a hint at the next update.

Casinos Would Be a Great Addition to Night City

The new billboards advertise two casinos, one with the name Pacifica, and the other Montana de Oro. Night City has always included a casino, the North Oak Casino and Country Club, but the property is completely inaccessible without mods or exploits. There isn’t a Montana de Oro Casino inCyberpunk 2077, with the billboards being the only mention of it across the world and storyline, and were only added in the update.

This has led to speculation that a possible next update could bring a playable casino. However, the billboards could simply be referencing the existing and inaccessible North Oak Casino. Many of the new billboards simply reference gambling, with Pacifica Casino, which may be the generic owner of the casinos in Night City, or yet another new casino. Nonetheless, many players are just excited about the possibility of a patch 2.4, no matter the possible contents of the patch.

What Would Casinos Look Like in Night City?

If casinos were added toCyberpunk 2077, it isn’t likely that they’d accompany intricate questlines or cutscenes. Therecent updates forCyberpunk 2077have focused on new cosmetics, items, and gameplay mechanics rather than extensive cutscenes and voice acting. Casinos would likely involve new gameplay, with a small side questline attached, much like the vehicle side quests that came in patch 2.3.

Night City’s Casinos Could Feature in Another Way

While it’s clear thatCD Projekt RED isn’t done withCyberpunk 2077, fans may have to look elsewhere to find the answers to the new billboards.Cyberpunk 2077contains references to both the real-world inspirations of Night City, and the fictional world’s expanded universe content, like the comic books.

It may be that the new billboards aren’t a hint of a future update, but instead are just a reference to Night City’s origins. Montana de Oro may be an Easter egg that references thereal-world location where Night City is based in California. Montana de Oro State Park is located very close to where the fictional location of Night City is located in theCyberpunkworld. The billboard isn’t the only reference to this location, with Montana de Oro Street inCyberpunk 2077being another reference to it that’s been around for far longer.

Another possibility is that the casino billboard ads could be hinting at future comic book or other expanded universe content. The Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru from the comic bookCyberpunk2077: Kickdownwas included in patch 2.3, and it doesn’t take much to imagine that it could go the other way round. Casinos already exist in Night City, and another comic book that features them could feasibly be inCyberpunk 2077’s future.
