Summary
Merge Tactics is a refreshing experience inClash Royale, and a completely new way to get entertained with the same cards and the same troops. While it uses theClash Royaleuniverse, the game is played in a completely different way. Even the troops operate differently in Merge Tactics.
Players who are not experienced enough might find Merge Tactics less tactical. While luck plays a big role in this mode, there are still key tactical factors that players could benefit from. Making the right decisions will make a comeback easily possible in Merge Tactics.
5Check Out Enemy Troops And Reposition Your Units
Helps With The Positioning Of The Player’s Units
Only curious players notice this sneaky feature in Merge Tactics. Clicking on other players' icons will show their map and troops in real time. This is an essential feature for winning battles and even making the right purchases from the shop.
Keep in mind that players should always place their units on the map depending on how the enemy troops are lined up. Positioning is an important factor in winning games that most players don’t even care about. For example, if there is aPrincesson the other side, the player should avoid putting their ranged units close to each other, as a single shot from the Princess could damage all of them.
4Deliberately Losing A Round Is A Tactic
If There Is A Good Merge In The Shop, Losing Is Worth It To Collect It
Royale King is apowerful rulerwho grants the player 4 Elixir points whenever they lose a round. Those who have played Merge Tactics long enough know that a comeback is very well possible with Royale King, as every loss is a chance to get stronger. With more Elixir points, the player can refresh the shop multiple times to finally get the cards they need most.
Not to say that someone needs to always lose their rounds, but if there is not a good option available in the shop and the player is low on Elixir, there is no point in expending the money further, especially when all the slots on the battlefield have not been fully occupied yet. At this point, losing the round and saving the Elixir for the next round could be more beneficial.
This is also critical in deciding what cards should be purchased. If the enemy is heavy on ranged troops, then units like Princess, Golden Knight, or Bandit could be more beneficial.
3Buy And Sell Troops Repeatedly To Refresh The Shop
Helps With Finding The Needed Merge
Don’t be afraid of spending Elixir points when there are already enough units on the map. Keep in mind that a good purchase is the one that either merges an existing troop or unlocks a new trait that is effective in battles. So, as long as these conditions are not met, there is no reason not to refresh the shop.
The best way to refresh the shop is to buy a unit and then sell it immediately. Do this as many times as possible until you get the chance to upgrade a troop. Even if there is no Elixir point left after finding the upgrade card, it will still remain in place for the next round.
However, this is not a tactic to use all the time. Sometimes it’s best to save the Elixir, especially when the player knows that a loss is inevitable, even if they purchase more troops. Basically, refrain from this tactic when a deliberate loss is more fruitful.
2Add Various Trait Buffs To The Team
More Buffs Mean More Chances Of Success
Taking advantage of thetrait buffsis something that usually stays under the radar of some players. While it’s great to take the individual strength of each card into account when buying from the shop, unlocking trait buffs is a team-oriented effort that makes every unit stronger.
The image above should be enough to prove the importance of this idea. The opponent features four troops with Merge Level 3, while all the troops on the player’s side are Merge Level 2. However, the player has unlocked four trait buffs, maximizing one of them. Now, guess who’s the winner?
Some might say the side with the most three-star troops should easily win this, but actually, the player with better traits wins here, and that was a decisive win, with four of the troops surviving the battle.
1Save Powerful Units On The Bench
Helps With Switching Between Traits
Some units, like Royal Ghost orArcher Queen, are too powerful to be ignored. Even if the player has a full squad of two-star troops, it’s still best to keep these powerful cards on the bench and replace them with less effective units when the benched card is merged.
This is a more tactical approach that will increase the chances of merging troops, especially up to three-star. Moreover, having a full bench will allow the player to replace troops from round to round and benefit from different traits based on the enemies they are facing. So, if someone is low on Elixir, the Goblin trait will be more useful, while other traits like Noble, Brawler, or Clan will increase the combat capabilities of the troops when they are facing tanky units.
Last but not least, having a full bench will also help with maximizing traits. Some traits like Assassin, Undead, or Clan are quite powerful in their maxed-out form.
