This list will contain spoilers up to the final arc of My Hero Academia

Summary

My Hero Academiais often described as an inspirational anime, and a main reason is that it’s full of characters who have big and ambitious dreams. Of course, having a dream is one thing, but being able to actually achieve it is often far from easy, as has been demonstrated through many key characters who have been seen throughout the course of the story.

Even a goal as basic as simply becoming a hero can end up taking a lot of time and effort, considering not everyone is cut out for the role. This is just one of the many hopeful dreams that have been mentioned inMy Hero Academia, and while there were several heroes who did eventually reach their ambitions by the end of the story, there were even a few villains who got to live out their fantasies too, even if it was just for a few brief moments.

7Eijiro Kirishima

Eijiro Aimed To Become A Chivalrous Hero Just Like Crimson Riot

Though Kirishima is only givena short amount of screentimein the early arcs of the story, it’s during the raid on Overhaul’s base where he really gets to show what he is truly made of. As an aspiring hero who suffered from a lack of confidence and self-belief in his abilities, Kirishima would look up to the courageous hero known as Crimson Riot, who is known for his steadfast and chivalrous persona that made him a hero the people could rely on.

Kirishima made it clear that he’s always wanted to be just like his inspiration, and it’s fair to say he displays the same characteristics as Crimson Riot during his fight against Rappa and Tengai. Despite being one of the strongest heroes in the entire series, there was one man that Endeavor was never able to surpass in terms of strength, and that wasAll Might. As a result, Endeavor became utterly obsessed with surpassing his rival, which would also automatically make him the number one hero in all of Japan if he could ever achieve it. At roughly the halfway point of the story, after All Might loses his powers for good, Endeavor, having been stuck in the number two spot for many years, finally managed to reach the top spot, officially being superior to All Might.

However, he quickly realizes that achieving his dream didn’t exactly bring him any sort of happiness, and, if anything, only made things worse. In trying to achieve his goal, Endeavor had treated his family like dirt, but now that his vision was clear once again, he would embark on a new journey to repent for his mistakes so that he could bring peace and stability back to his family.

Though Ochaco experiences a lot of hardship over the course of her adventure, especially when she was forced to kill Toga, in the end, she is finally able to graduate from UA, becoming a fully fledged hero in the process. This would inevitably lead Gentle down the path of becoming a villain, but this wouldn’t last very long. During the final war, the heroes decide to let Gentle out of his cell in order to prevent a floating UA from crashing into the ground. By softening the landing of the structure with his Quirk, Gentle was able to save countless lives thanks to his actions, allowing him to play the role of a hero without even having a license.

In keeping with his carefree and upbeat persona, Hawks announces to the audience that his dream is to create a world where heroes can have some time to kill. When Hawks debuts in the story, Japan is in a state of crisis, especially with All Might no longer being around to fend off the swarms of villains and Nomus who seem to be popping up around every corner. This isn’t even mentioning the looming threat of All For One, who ensured the heroes never had any time to take a quick breather.

In the final war, though, Hawks put up a valiant fight against All For One, even having his own Quirk stolen in the process. However, his sacrifice would not be in vain as, once All For One and Shigaraki were finally defeated, the crime rate in the country lowered significantly, giving the heroes, including Hawks, some much-needed time to relax and take a load off.

1Deku

Deku Didn’t Just Become A Hero, He Became One Of The Best Japan Has Ever Seen

Noticing the young boy’s endless passion and determination, All Might decides it’s time to finally pass on his powers, giving Deku One For All and kickstarting his journey to become a hero.

Of course, this would only be the first step, since Deku would also need to pass a bunch of written and physical exams alongside proving himself in the field of battle to even be considered worthy of being a hero in the first place. After managing to master the power of One For All and protecting the country from Shigaraki, not only would Deku be recognized as a hero, but he would be viewed by many as one of the best Japan has ever seen.
