Call of Duty: Warzoneplayers are calling for developer Raven Software to bring back some of the shooter’s most divisive Battle Royale and Resurgence maps, including Fortune’s Keep and Vondel. Currently,Call of Duty: Warzoneplayers can only check out the returning Verdansk in Battle Royale and Plunder, or Rebirth Island for those who enjoy the fast-paced antics of Resurgence. But with only two maps in rotation, fans think it’s time for a mix up.
Protests for a big map switch up come just a few months after thetriumphant return of Verdansk toCall of Duty: Warzone. The large-scale Battle Royale map launched alongside the free-to-play shooter back in 2020, but was removed in 2021 in favor of Caldera, which came with Season 1 ofCall of Duty: Vanguard. Numerous maps have come and gone since Verdansk’s departure, including Al Mazrah, Vondel, Caldera, and Urzikstan. As for Resurgence maps, Rebirth Island remains the most popular choice, but even that was replaced in 2022 by Fortune’s Keep. Thankfully, the map made its return in 2024 before being reunited with Verdansk earlier this year.
Season 3 was a massive moment for theWarzonecommunity, not only because it finally brought back Verdansk, but because it implemented some classic features that hadn’t been seen in the game for a long time. However, despite giving in to fans' requests to bring back Verdansk, it looks like some are already calling for its removal. Or, at least for it to be rotated between other maps, such as Vondel. Unlike game’s such asApex Legends,Call of Duty: Warzonecannot rotate its Battle Royale maps, which means fans are left with one map at a time, usually for multiple seasons. Resurgence, on the other hand, is a different story, as Raven Software has been known to rotate between its smaller maps much more frequently.
Warzone Fans Want to See Fortune’s Keep and Vondel Return
Reddit user Dutch_Van_DerLinde1 recently took to the the game’ssubreddit to call for Raven Software to bring Fortune’s Keep andVondel back toWarzone, and it seems as though the community is backing the request. Fellow Reddit userToiletduckisaid it is “boring” having to play Rebirth Island all the time, whilePltonhdescribedWarzoneas “anti-variety.” The user goes on to explain that players can only realistically use a handful of the hundreds of weapons in the game (due to nerfs and buffs that often make the most recent weapons meta), and can also only play two maps at a time. Some are even requesting other maps return too, such as Ashika Island, Al Mazrah, and many more.
While it’s not impossible for Raven to bring back some of the aforementioned maps, it seems unlikely. The developer has only brought back maps in the past that were highly requested, such as Verdansk and Rebirth Island. After the former’s comeback in Season 3, the studio intends to keep updating the map with new features and points of interest, which means it could be sticking around for quite some time.
Details on the game’s next season are currently sparse, but rumors suggestSeason 5 ofCall of Dutyis set to kick off in early August. If it’s anything like past seasons, players can expect even more features and map changes to make their way intoWarzonewith the update.
