The recent reveal ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 7has caused quite a stir in the franchise’s community, with fans wanting to learn more in terms of what the game will offer. The brief reveal trailer for the project focused largely on the campaign, although the semi-futuristic Zombies and multiplayer modes of the game have been met with equal levels of anticipation. While it seemed like it might be a while for more information about the game to surface, a recent leak has provided the community with a fresh wave of details.
Recently, Treyarch accidentally spilled some interesting information aboutCall of Duty: Black Ops 7by publicly revealing what was intended to be an internal developer message. This message was briefly broadcast on the official XboxCall of Dutyapp, coming in the way of screenshots of the game’s multiplayer and its unique game modes. These screenshots were seemingly intended to come alongside some closed internal playtesting that is currently happening forBlack Ops 7, with their reveal players an unintended early glimpse into the multiplayer experience.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s New Multiplayer Leaks Are Full of Surprises
Fans were quick to share these leakedBlack Ops 7images, withthe screenshots being posted via the CharlieIntel X account. The equipment and overall look of the multiplayer operators that are featured in these screenshots seem very in-line with the 2030s setting ofBlack Ops 7, being more futuristic thanBlack Ops 2while not as science-fiction heavy asBlack Ops 3. ClassicBlack Opskillstreaks like the RC-XD make an appearance in the screenshots, as well as a robotic dog-like ground unit that could play similarly to the Cerberus killstreak ofBlack Ops 3.
Players can also be seen diving directionally in these leaked screenshots, echoing reports ofBlack Ops 7adopting an evolved omnimovement systemas opposed to featuring things like wallrunning or jetpack mechanics. The most important information that can be gleaned from these screenshots comes from their related game modes, with two unique multiplayer modes being unintentionally revealed by Treyarch.
The first leaked game mode forCall of Duty: Black Ops 7is called Skirmish, which will see two teams of 20 players “fight to complete objectives across a large map.” These objectives will seemingly come in the form of capture points, destructible payloads, and data transmissions. Crucially, it is even mentioned that players will have the use of wingsuits to quickly traverse these expansive Skirmish maps. Of course,large-scale games have been a divisive element ofCoDmultiplayer in recent years, yet a return to 20v20 gameplay could be a major way thatBlack Ops 7is attempting to differentiate itself fromBlack Ops 6.
Wingsuits have appeared in theBlack Opsfranchise before, such asBlack Ops 2’s campaign andBlack Ops 4’s Blackout BR mode, withBlack Ops 7carrying forward this tradition.
The second leaked mode forBlack Ops 7is called Overload, being a more traditional 6v6 experience. According to the screenshots, Overload sees players fighting over control of an EMP device which needs to be delivered to the enemy HQ to score. This could play like a simple reverse capture-the-flag mode, or it could even besimilar toBlack Ops 3’s Uplinkin terms of players being able to throw the device between teammates and into the capture zone.
These leaked game modes both seem like good ways forBlack Ops 7to establish its own identity away from its immediate predecessor, with this arguably being its main priority. While Skirmish and Overload both seem like exciting additions to 2025’sCoDofferings, it seems as if Treyarch still has a lot to reveal forBlack Ops 7’s multiplayer, campaign, and Zombies over the coming months. Thankfully, these leaks are sure to be just a taste of what is to come.
