Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has just posted an image ofBorderlands 4’s map marked with all the game’s collectibles, spoiling the surprise for gamers who like to go collectible hunting on their own terms.Borderlands 4is one of the biggest AAA game releases of the second half of this year, next to titles like PlayStation’sGhost of Yoteiand Xbox’sThe Outer Worlds 2. Despite many gamers feeling burnt out on the sci-fi looter shooter franchise,Borderlands 4’s early previews seem immensely positive so far.

It’s been quite an eventful few months forBorderlandsboss Randy Pitchford, as he’s drawn the ire of many gamers following a number of inflammatory comments about the imminent release ofBorderlands 4. Pitchford’s “If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen” response to a fan concerned about a potential $80Borderlands 4asking price caused havoc throughout the industry as gamers, and even somecompanies like Devolver Digital, fired back with responses and memes making their disapproval of Pitchford’s stance known. Another recent instance sawBorderlandsfans getting upset at Pitchford after he implied thatBorderlands 4will be so good that it would take much longer for it to be hit with deep discounts thanBorderlands 3, which took about half a decade.

With just about two months to go untilBorderlands 4’s anticipated release, Randy Pitchford is back at it again, this time publicly revealing the entireBorderlands 4map along with all its collectible locations. On Twitter, Pitchford made a thread expressing the care Gearbox put into creating the game’s seamless world of Kairos, waxing poetic aboutBorderlands 4’s “Marcus” bobblehead collectibles. To end the thread, Pitchford posted an image ofBorderlands 4’s open world mapin its entirety, marked with all 200+ of the game’s Marcus bobbleheads.

Randy Pitchford Shows Off Full Borderlands 4 World Map and Collectibles

This is quite an interesting move by Pitchford to say the least, and it’ll likely save video game guide makers some time in mid-September. Many gamers would agree that part of the allure of an open world game is slowly uncovering the world map oneself. Now thatBorderlands 4’s entire mapis out there for the world to see two months prior to the game’s launch, it wouldn’t be surprising to seeBorderlandsfans upset over the move. Many collectible enthusiasts may feel turned off by seeing the fullBorderlands 4map and its Marcus bobblehead locations, but thankfully it’s quite zoomed out, so the challenge of pinpointing these bobbleheads' exact positions within the locations and environments is still very much alive. As Pitchford himself stated in response to a disgruntled fan under the tweet: “I can point you to the haystack. Good luck finding the needle hidden in it!”

Borderlands 4is set for its September 12 releaseon Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, with a Switch 2 release slated for later in 2025. Despite all the drama that’s engulfed the game all year long, it’ll be interesting to see whether it can exceed many fans' lower expectations and become the massive hit Randy Pitchford seems to strongly believe it will be.
