During a recent hands-on event, oneBorderlands 4player looks through the settings and discovers an interesting slider tied to the Claptrap character. With a launch in September, Gearbox has seemingly increased the marketing and news forBorderlands 4in an attempt to get fans excited about the next chapter of the looter shooter franchise.
Just recently, fans finally got an answer to a longstanding question centered around the game’s price. Since its announcement, there’s been plenty of discussion about how muchBorderlands 4could potentially cost, with some games starting to launch at higher prices. While Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford certainly fanned the flames at times, it was recently confirmed thatBorderlands 4wouldn’t increase its launch price, which certainly pleased fans.
At the recent showcase event, a player named Chadly posted a picture of the settings menu, highlighting a specific option to control the volume of theBorderlandsmascot known as Claptrap. The character has been a divisive one for players over the years, as there are some that enjoy his quirky and chatty nature, while others would rather the robot not make an appearance at all. While the small droid certainly has a part to play in this latest game, fans now have a way to limit how much of his dialogue they actually want to hear.
Borderlands 4 Features a Claptrap Audio Slider
The post even got a response from Borderlands 4 narrative director Sam Winkler, who provided a bit more context to the discovery. WhileWinkler is no stranger to revealingBorderlands 4features, he confirmed that he wrote some lines specifically for that setting and that it includes “maybe the dumbest most niche reference to a certain terrible accent in a certain classic immersive sim.” While it may seem as though the setting has a few surprises, Winkler’s admission has set off plenty of fan speculation, with some even assuming it may not function the way people expect.
Already, Gearbox has detailed a lot of the new features and mechanics, including new movement techniques and a grappling hook for getting around the open spaces much easier and faster. While player feedback over the years has had a big impact on many of these additions, Creative Director Graeme Timmins also confirmed that the fan-favoritePhoto Mode would also be included in a post-launch update forBorderlands 4. The feature was pushed outside the launch window due to the studio placing a priority on the core experience and quality of life additions.
