Borderlands 4is coming to Switch 2 on October 3, a month after the game’s September 12 release on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.Borderlands 4developer Gearbox Software had previously made it known to players that the looter shooter would not be released on the Nintendo console alongside other major platforms, instead advertising a late 2025 window. With its release date officially set for early October, Vault Hunters on Switch 2 will have to wait just a bit longer to join friends playing on other consoles.

The later release date for the game’s Switch 2 version is likely due to thehigh system requirements to runBorderlands 4, which are already poised to leave many PC players in the dust. At a minimum,Borderlands 4requires an 8-core CPU paired with a GPU that has at least 8GB of video memory. Considering a little over half of all Steam users are still running PCs with six or fewer CPU cores, many players hoping to run the newest installment will need an upgrade. Those on the original Nintendo Switch are entirely out of luck, asBorderlands 4is skipping the console entirely.
