One of the more unique aspects of the space gameplay in thisopen-world gameis that a player can own and upgrade a freighter. In effect, this massive capital ship becomes a flying base. Upgrading a freighter means tracking down salvaged frigate modules and exchanging them for upgrades or consumables at the upgrade control terminal, which can be found on the bridge of the freighter. There are several ways to gather these modules, with some being more efficient than others.
6Guild Envoys

One of the simpler ways to get hold of salvaged frigate modules when playingNo Man’s Skyis to skip from station to station, looking at the available rewards for missions on offer. Both the Merchant Guild and the Explorers Guild can offer frigate modules as a quest reward.
However, there is a downside to this method. Namely, the player will need to build up their reputation and standing with each of these guilds before they will be offered the kinds of missions that can reward frigate modules. This could take quite some time and be more than a little tedious.
5Nexus Missions

The Nexus is the player hub inNo Man’s Sky. Every player has access to it, even if they havedisabled multiplayer. Whilst in space, a player can use their ship to summon The Nexus to their location, and then land on it in the same way as a station.
At the front of the landing dock area is the mission terminal. This mission terminal offers a small range of missions, which change over time. Occasionally, a salvaged frigate module may be offered as a mission reward. The downside here is that some Nexus missions are designed to be completed by a small group of players and may not be possible to complete when playing solo.

Crashed freighters are one of a selection ofplanet-basedPOIs that can be uncovered by using a sensor booster, activating transmission towers, or purchasing planetary charts from the appropriate vendor on a station. Each crashed freighter has a number of buried cargo pods that the player can dig up using the terrain manipulation tool.
Some buried pods are hazardous, emitting radiation, for example. It can also be quite challenging to find the entrance to a cargo pod when digging it out. However, once a pod has been excavated, it may contain loot, and this loot can include salvaged frigate modules, although rarely.
3Derelict Freighters

There are two ways to track down derelict freighters in space. Firstly, the player can buy an emergency signal scanner from the scrap dealer at aspace station, and these are generally located under the stairs on the right-hand side of the station. Secondly, using a ship’s pulse engine to travel around will sometimes spawn one.
These are space-based encounters, which are partpuzzle-solvinggameplay, with some first-person combat tacked on as well in some scenarios. One of the items that can be looted by running these encounters is salvaged frigate modules.

One of the more interesting features of owning a freighter inNo Man’s Skyis the ability to recruit a fleet of frigates as well. There are different types of frigates, including combat, exploration, and support ships. There is an NPC located on the bridge of the freighter that can help the player send out fleets of frigates on away missions.
Some of these away missions may award the player with salvaged frigate modules. The great thing about this method is that it is almost entirely hands-free. The only effort involved is sending the fleet out, checking on its progress, and possibly repairing any frigates that were damaged during the mission, once they return.
1Become A Pirate
Shoot Cargo Pods To Loot Frigate Modules
Cargo pods have around a 1% chance of dropping a salvaged frigate module as loot when they are destroyed. However, attacking cargo pods in a normal system inNo Man’s Skywill result in Sentinel ships coming for the pilot. The way around this is to perform this type of systematic looting in a pirate-controlled outlaw system.
Outlaw systems usually have plenty of cargo pods close to the local space station, and flying close enough will enable the player to inspect each one and then reveal the contents. This is a solid choice for farming a few frigate modules quickly and easily.
