Summary

Traits come in two forms when players are creating their characters inAbiotic Factor.Players will want to take some time to read through all the positive and negative traits. The more Starting Points a player has, the more positive traits a player can start with, making the summer intern a great choice for players who want a lot of them.

Negative traits can be pretty beastly and are often not worth taking. However, players that do take negative traits can find themselves with a new kind of challenge for the game and some additional room to take another positive trait they have enough points for. Some traits will be better for combat, and some will be betterback at base.

Hydration is important, and this is a great trait to take for beginners to the game. This will make the game far less daunting and, thus, far more enjoyable for a lot of players not planning to get too far on their first go.

At cost 8, there are some jobs that cannot pick this trait up without first taking a negative trait. However, this is definitely something for new players to consider trying as one of their first character’s traits.

3Self-Defense

Trait Cost: 5

At first glance, players may think this is only for melee players. That is not the case. As mentioned above, players will find themselvesin a melee range of enemiesat some point, so having melee options is always a good thing.

A ranged player picking this up will allow them touse any melee weaponto put up a good fight, and this can finish off enemies they have had their health already whittled down from range. In fact, this might be more valuable to ranged players early on than melee players in the late game.

1Wrinkly Brainmeat

Having a flat +20% XP gain for all skills in the game is not just major; it is undeniably the best talent players can take. If a player is a melee-focused frontliner, this boosts their Melee, Fortitude, and First Aid XP yields to be the best tank they can be. Everything a player does, from Cookingand Constructing to Sprinting and Sneaking will all benefit from this wonder talent. At only 4 points, this is ridiculously cheap for what it gives players.

To put things into perspective, 20% is a free level up for every 5 levels.
