Persona 5 The Phantom Xis a game that rewards players for assembling teams that synergize well with each other. While the game has a massive character roster that only seems to grow larger with each update, with a bit of practice, you’ll quickly start spotting the characters that work best together. Generally, any party will want a damage dealer (an Assassin or Sweeper) who you can build your strategy around, using other units to cover for their weaknesses and amplify their strengths. for example, a Sweeper with support from a Strategist with attack buffs and a Guardian to draw enemy aggro will perform very well.

In thisPersona 5 The Phantom XGuide, we’ll be discussing a couple of the strongest teams you’re able to assemble with the current roster, with one being very easy to assemble, while the other requires a bit more banner luck to get together. Both are very powerful when facing off against most enemies, though naturally, they’re not effective against shadows who are immune to their main elemental damage types. These teams are also great templates for players looking into team-building strategies, following our golden rule of building the rest of the group around a damage dealer. Elucidator characters provide a lot of utility too, allowing you to provide extra defense to a team lacking in it, or provide damage buffs to the entire party on demand, depending on which Elucidator you add to the party.

Persona 5 The Phantom X_Fire Damage Team Panther

Panther Fire Damage Team for Persona 5 The Phantom X

One of the strongest team builds you can make early on is a Fire-focused team, taking advantage of the free 5-star from the Newcomer Banner to acquire Ann and then using easily accessible 4-star characters to support her incredible damage output. For this team, you’ll need Ann Takamaki/Panther, Kiyoshi Kurotani/Key, Lufel/Cattle, and your choice of Kayo Tomiyama/Okyan or Miyu Sahara/Puppet as an Elucidator.

By taking advantage of Key’s Chosen One stacks and Highlight effect,he can massively increase the Fire damage of the entire team. If you have Cattle’s first Awareness level, he’ll apply burn to a target at the start of the fight, allowing Key to use Ring of Fire as an AOE right at the start of the fight and apply Sacred Flame much faster and more easily. This team, as a whole, will deal a lot of damage each turn just from status effects, both Burn and Key’s Sacred Flame.

Panther (Ann) holding Masquerade Ribbon P5X

Panther is the main source of this team’s direct damage, building up passion stacks with Crimson Rose and Trifire, applying burn to any targets that don’t already have it whenever possible, before nuking the field with Falling Sun once she gets four stacks and gains La Vie en Rose.Landing a Fireburn technical with Ann’s skills and Highlight will also give her a hefty damage bonuson that attack thanks to her Hidden Ability: Rising Tension.

Cattle is an excellent secondary source of damage and burn application, but his biggest utility here is keeping the team alive and healthy through powerful targeted healing.Your choice of Elucidator makes a big difference to whether this team is more durable or more capable of insane damage, with Okyan buffing damage against foes with elemental ailments, while Puppet instead focuses on applying defensive shields to protect the party and lessen the strain on Cattle’s SP to keep everyone healthy. This makes Okyan a great choice for nuking waves of enemies, while Puppet shines against tougher enemies and bosses.

Wonder can fill several roles in this team, depending on what is most important to you.Obviously, he can be a great source of extra damage, but since that’s not really in short supply here, it’s often better to set him up to apply shields, supply extra healing as needed, and generally provide defensive utility to a team that is otherwise quite squishy. Ideally you’ll want him to have access to both healing and shielding, so he can make sure the squishier members of the team don’t get taken out.

Joker Curse Damage Team for Persona 5 The Phantom X

This team is a bit more expensive to assemble, requiring a bit of banner luck to get its Sweeper and a particular Saboteur, but it can do crazy damage to anything that isn’t immune to curse damage. Our main damage dealer is Joker/Ren Amamiya, whose Will of Rebellion stacks allow him to take extra turns and enhance his damage. He excels at tearing through entire groups of enemies with Arsene’s Chains, an attack that deals more damage when used on an Extra Action, and even more damage against foes with any kind of debuff.

To set Joker up for success, the 5-star Saboteur Rin/Yaoling Li is perfect. She applies the Red Spider Lilly debuff when using her Lion Dance of Oblivion, increasing enemy damage taken by an amount determined by her speed stat. Paired with the similarly speed-scaling defense debuff applied with her Underworld Ferry skill, this allows her to render enemies much more vulnerable to attack. Her second and third skills are both strengthened when she has the Meng Po Soup buff, acquired when she generates enough memory stacks. Using any of her skills with a Meng Po Soup buff also adds a chance to inflict Forget on enemies, rendering them unable to use their skills.

Persona 5 The Phantom X_Tomoko_Moko_Feature

To really pile on the damage, Moko/Tomoko Noge is the perfect strategist to add to the mix.She can use Cheering You On to apply Cheer Song to Joker and Rin, enhancing their Attack and their Ailment Accuracy, which really helps them to dish out damage right from the start. She can also use Spirit’s Lullaby, and her Highlight, to increase the damage taken by a single target and potentially inflict sleep on them. This lets her increase the damage dealt to priority targets, and occasionally even allows her to neutralize a threat for a few turns.

Once again, Puppet and Okyan both both work well as Elucidators for this setup, with Puppet offering much-needed defensive utility while Okyan improves your damage output.Wonder should definitely take on a support role in this team, utilizing healing, buffing, and shielding Personas to keep the rest of the party on their feet. Applying shields to the party members with the lowest defense and/or the least health, and then providing healing as needed, is usually the best way to handle Wonder in this role.
