Netflix has released season 3 ofSquid Game, which appears to be the final installment in the series (at least for now). Debuting in 2021, the Korean death game show proved to be an unexpected hit, one of the biggest in the streaming service’s history. While perhaps unexpected, the premise of throwing a bunch of players into win-or-die games with big cash prizes and a dystopian aesthetic, frankly, sells itself.
With something likeFall Guysbeing popular,Squid Gameis a natural fit for the video game industry, to the point that it is kind of surprising that a console or PC adaptation of the Netflix show has yet to materialize (Squid Game: Unleashedis on Android, though). Fortunately, if you are a big fan of the series and would like to take part in your own Red Light, Green Light, thenRobloxis a safe bet. The game creation platform has plenty ofSquid Gameexperiences, and it can be difficult to know where to start. Consequently, let’s pick out a few highlights.
Squid Game: The Final Games
Netflix’s Official Roblox Squid Game
We might as well get started with Netflix’s officialSquid Game Robloxgame. ConsideringRobloxfairly quickly proved to be a good avenue to adapt the show’s structure, Netflix deciding to put together its own version makes a lot of sense, andSquid Game: The Final Gamesis, unsurprisingly, one of the more polished experiences. The title currently offers four games:
This game does not hold too many surprises, delivering pretty much exactly what you would expect. Still, the lobbies fill up quickly, the controls are simple but work well, and the four chosen games are some of the most popular and self-explanatory inSquid Game’s history. If you are not sure where to start, you should just go withSquid Game: The Final Games.
Ink Game
Welcoming Community & Very Good Presentation
Personally,Ink Gameis my favoriteRobloxexperience, at least within this niche category. Runs follow the standard formula of participants engaging in a series of challenges, with eliminations happening each round. Nothing too extraordinary, but the games are presented with style and a sense of scale, more so than most of the alternative options on the platform.
Ink Gameis put together well, including incorporating a few cutscenes that add personality. These moments bring a cinematic edge that helps makeInk Gamefeel like it is set withinSquid Game’s universe. Also, the community really tries to work together, with most players helping and encouraging each other. In a match of Red Light, Green Light, plenty of people step in the way of bullets to try and help others survive. Really neat stuff. Sure, occasionally you’ll find someone who will push you just as you are trying to finish a puzzle, but that will happen in mostRobloxgames.
Squid Game X
Intense & Addictive
One of the most activeRoblox Squid Gameexperiences,Squid Game Xdoubles down on the source material’s dystopian intensity. The Front Man and guards are featured heavily, and players can even step into the latter’s shoes (for a price). In between typical challenges, players might find themselves having to survive an onslaught from guards or mount a rebellion to kill the Front Man. These bursts of action happen sporadically and are always chaotic fun, and they help shake up the flow of things.
In terms of minigames,Squid Game Xhas range, with 12 currently being part of the equation. Runs consist of 6 challenges, so there will be some variety between playthroughs. The game does a pretty good job of incorporating both solo and team-based modes, and the latter can be nerve-wrecking (Marbles is a great example).
Shrimp Game
A Solid Roblox Squid Game Experience
OK, you might be noticing a pattern at this point. For the most part, thegoodRoblox Squid Gamegamesare similar, offering generally the same overall experience. Sure, some might prioritize cutscenes and story a bit more than others, but they are fairly committed to presenting a faithful adaptation of Netflix’s show.
Despite having a name that might suggest a shift away from the norm,Shrimp Gameis pretty much 100%Squid Game, and that is perfectly OK. I will say,Shrimp Gamemight be the best experience when it comes to setting a creepy tone, as the lobby is soundtracked by atmospheric and unsettling music. It does a great job of getting everyone ready for what will be an unforgiving and deadly experience.
Squid Evolution
Now, For Something A Bit Different
While generally awesome in a vacuum, the other highlighted experiences can blur together due to their similarities. Well,Squid Evolutiondoes not have that issue. Rather than stick to theSquid Gameformula, this title is all about leveling up your character and unlocking new evolutions, with the process generally involving attacking enemies who get progressively stronger.
The gameplay is fairly easy and even somewhat monotone (and I recommend activating auto attack), but it can be therapeutic and relaxing. Evolutions also happen with each level, which means a reward is never that far away. It is absurdly fun to learn what is the next step in this bizarre evolutionary trajectory.
