Summary

Most video games encourage players to make smart decisions both in and out of combat. After all, playing like a fool will lead to a swift game over and compel players not to make the same mistake a second time around.

However, some open-world games revel in the idea of letting players go ballistic in their worlds and act as stupidly as they can. This leads to some hilarious moments that elevate the memorability of these sandboxes in the eyes of many.

Despite being a sequel to the first game, the nameGoat Simulator 3should make it clear that this game does everything but take itself seriously. Controlling a goat with a super-powered tongue that can latch onto anything is way more engaging than fans give it credit for.

Sure, there are some puzzles and the like where players must use their brainpower to unlock these rewards, but the bulk of the game encourages people to be as stupid as possible.Crashing into cars, being a menace to NPCs, and uncovering ridiculously dumb secrets are huge parts of what makesGoat Simulator 3such a blast to play.

Rockstar is known for makingsome of the funniest sandboxesplayers can get lost in, andGrand Theft Auto 5is no exception. What players love about this game is the sheer stupidity that can ensue when players go on a chaotic rampage in the open world.

Being a nutjob who crashes into NPCs and antagonizes everyone in sight is more fun than it has any right to be. Sure, the cops will come to put a stop to this public nuisance, but all players need to do is hide from them and lose their Wanted Level before becoming stupid all over again.

Jimmy Hopkins is the very definition of a truant who hates going to school and following rules. He hates being enrolled in Bullworth Academy, but this school and its people will resonate with this troublemaker, especially when he needs to take revenge on a supposed friend for taking advantage of him.

Thebest part aboutBully’s sandboxis that Jimmy can be a total idiot, which is a ton of fun. Punching people more than twice his weight, skipping class, getting in trouble with prefects, and being a nuisance to everyone in sight is pretty entertaining, and makes it clear why this game became the center of controversy, like most other Rockstar games at the time.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 Are Still Selling Very Well

Sometimes, protagonists don’t need to be smart and cool people to resonate with audiences. This can be seen inYakuza: Like a Dragon, where the main character is a huge part of what makes this game so special, despite being a naive idiot more often than not.

He blindly trusts people and gets stabbed in the back multiple times, even if the stories behind some of these betrayals go deeper than fans would assume. Ichiban’s goofy nature is highlighted in the game’s substories, which are hilarious and do a great job of living up toYakuza’s legacy of letting fans enjoy some of the most bizarre side content they can see in a video game.

Disco Elysiumis one of the best open-world RPGs of all time, with the district of Martinaise and the outskirts of Revachol serving as the backdrop for a compelling murder mystery, investigated by the capable Kim Kitsuragi and one of the biggest bumbling fools in gaming history.

Seeing the main characterwake up from a bender so immense that he lost all his memoriesmakes it clear just how stupid he is, and players will love leaning into his dumb and pathetic side during the investigation. However, it becomes increasingly clear that the detective in question is also very good at his job, despite his eccentric ways.

One of the biggest reasonswhy players loveFallout: New Vegasis how it lets players roleplay as whatever they want. This includes the act of controlling a Courier with Intelligence so low that he becomes a special brand of stupid.

It’s hilarious to see the protagonist struggle to grasp basic concepts, with NPCs reacting to his stupidity in hilarious ways. It’s a viable playthrough despite the Courier’s lack of intelligence and will give players yet another reason to explore the Mojave.

Red Dead Redemption 2is one of the greatest open-world gamesever made that needs no introduction. The immersion in this world is incredible, with Arthur being molded in the player’s image to become either an honorable hero or a horrible rogue.

In the case of the latter, players must do and say a lot of stupid things in the game world. Insulting every NPC, wreaking havoc in towns, talking back to lawmen, and not wearing a mask while committing crimes are just a few of the many ways Arthur can be uncharacteristically stupid in this game.
