Best Skills for the Longsword in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The Longsword is a versatile weapon type that cancater to both offensive and defensive playstyles. It has eight major skills in its branchin the Impetus Repository, and depending on which route you take, you’ll end up with a weapon that’s either great for rushing or perfect for patiently defending.
Effect
Sword Counter
Block the next incoming enemy attack and reduce the damage you take from it. Perfectly blocking with Sword Counter fully Deflects the attack, causing the attack to stagger.
Sword Counter Variant 2
After Deflecting an enemy with Sword Counter, you can immediately follow up with the fourth and fifth hits of your basic attack combo.
Sword Master
The fifth hit of your basic attack combo generates 2 stacks of Skyward Might. This works perfectly when combined with Sword Counter Variant 2.
These three skills make up the core of the Longsword’s defensive playstyle.Sword Countercan block most attacks, and with theVariant 2 upgradeand theSword Master, you’ll be able to generate Skyward Might stacks for your other abilities. Sword Counter’s perfect block window is very forgiving, so attempt to take advantage of that when fighting any enemy that uses weapons.
Crescent Arc
Evade an incoming attack and immediately prepare for a counterattack. Perfectly dodge an attack to perform Shimmer.
Crescent Arc Variant 2
After using Crescent Arc, you can follow up with a light attack.
Sword Savant
The third hit of your basic attack combo gains Clash. When you are hit while performing the third hit, you deflect most of the incoming damage.
If you want to play more aggressively, take the skills above instead.Crescent Arc and its Variant 2 upgradelets you use your basic attacks and Weapon Skills a bit more recklessly, as Crescent Arc acts as an emergency dodge. Meanwhile,Sword Savantgives you an extra layer of protection while you’re doing your basic combo.
Players who want to push the envelope a bit further can skip Crescent Arc and takeCrescent Mooninstead. This skill is much harder to take advantage of, but it serves a great gap closer and damage dealer that also has a built-in dodge mechanic.
What About Corrosive Flurry?
Corrosive Flurry is a purely offensive skill that deals great damage and inflicts Corruption, which inflicts damage over time to any enemy affected by it. This is a good skill to have if you just want to deal damage, but considering how all the nodes connected to it are all Feathering nodes, this skill is best taken if you’re using a build that uses Feathering spells.
Players can’t distributestats individually inWuchang: Fallen Feathers, and if they want to increase stats like Endurance and Strength, they need to unlock the appropriate skill nodes in the Impetus Repository. If you want to take Corrosive Flurry, you’re going to miss out on important Strength and Agility nodes in the main Longsword skill tree. These are important for scaling your weapon’s damage up.
Best Non-Longsword Skills
Once you get all the skills you want from the Longsword branch of the skill tree, we strongly recommend gettingSteel Resolve andHealth Siphonfrom the left branch of the Impetus Repository. These work extremely well with Sword Counter — Steel Resolve generates Skyward Might when you Deflect an attack, while Health Siphon heals you every time your final combo hit connects with an enemy.
