Summary
Thanks to updates and downloadable content, Frontier Games has already provided fans with access to many species of dinosaurs inJurassic World Evolution 2. However, the dedicated modding community has taken things even further, demonstrating that there is always room for expansion, even in games that are already filled with content.
Fans have put in a lot of effort to bring new dinosaurs intoJurassic World Evolution 2, whether they are based on real-life prehistoric species or inspired by other dinosaur-related movies. From towering carnivores to fearsome mutant monsters, these additions are sure to enhance the gaming experience and add a new level of excitement for players.
8Guanlong Wucaii
Mods Allow For Even More Feathered Dinosaurs
This proceratosaurid dinosaur of the Jurassic period, known as theGuanlong Wucaii, was discovered in 2006 in the Dzungaria area of China and is said to be a relative of the T-Rex. In theJurassic Worldfranchise, Guanlong has only appeared in video games, specifically in the mobileJurassic World: The Game.
The only way to have a Guanlong Wucaii inJurassic World: Evolution 2is via a mod that implements feathers and more vibrant colors to create a dinosaur that can appeal to dino-enthusiasts. Like many other mods forJurassic World Evolution 2,it will require extra modsfor it to run properly, but the result makes the process worth going through.
7Livyatan Melvillei
Possibly The Scariest Whale To Ever Exist
Most marine animals found in the game are someform of precursor to sharks, crocodilians, or members of the mosasaur family, but there is a noticeable lack of whale-like animals. Thanks to a mod, players can add theLivyatan melvillei, which is essentially the ancestor of the sperm whale that rivaled the size of the Megalodon and was likely just as much of an apex predator.
Livyatan melvilleiwas even named after the author ofMoby Dick, Herman Melville, and the mod brings the animal to life in a thoughtful way. Instead of just a giant sperm whale, the model for the Livyatan matches how paleontologists believe it to look like, with a bulkier body that still looks majestic as it swims through the lagoons of a player’s own Jurassic World.
6Distortus Rex
Fans Can Bring Jurassic World: Rebirth To Life
While the creature will likely be part ofJurassic World Evolution 3,Distortus Rexcan be added toJurassic World Evolution 2via a recent mod that accurately depicts the mutant. The D-Rex is one of many stand-outdinosaurs fromJurassic World: Rebirth, featuring six limbs and a bulbous head that was inspired by a Xenomorph, Rancor, and a T-Rex all in one.
The mod for the Distortus Rex is not only accurate to the movie, but fans can experiment with different colors to see what looks best for the animal outside its base brown and orange color. In the movie, it was a solitary monster that killed anything in sight, but the modder made the Distortus Rex able to live in a pack of two that live and hunt together.
5Megalania
The Ancestors Of The Komodo Dragons
Fans of thePath of TitansMMO, where a player can control dinosaurs directly, will recognize theMegalaniafor its distinct design of being a relative of the famous Komodo Dragons. Rather than your typical dinosaur, the Megalania looks and feels more like a giant lizard that moves around on all four legs, looking for its prey.
Megalania is an excellent choice for those seeking a herd with diverse colors and patterns, as these creatures thrive when they have several siblings to interact with within their paddock. They appreciate environments rich in water and trees that resembletheir natural island habitats. Observing them as they waddle and scurry around can be quite entertaining.
4Deinosuchus
The Perfect Carnivore For Land And Sea
Similar to sharks, crocodiles have not evolved much over millions of years, showing just how much of a perfect specimen that nature created they are. Found in the 1800s, theDeinosuchusis a late Cretaceous-era dinosaur that reached over forty feet long, which would have allowed it to take on large prey like Parasaurolophus or possibly even a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Since Deinosuchus is a crocodilian that wasable to live in the ocean, the mod wisely gives the player the option to have two versions of the creature: one for regular paddocks or one for lagoons. The lagoon version is more accurately sized, but both are well-detailed with polished animations that show the potential for crocodilian species in future games.
3Megaraptor
It Makes The Velociraptor Look Like A Turkey
From the quills on its head to the more vibrant colors of its hide, theMegaraptormod is reminiscent of the Velociraptors fromJurassic Park 3, but on a much larger scale. This carnivore has only been featured in one otherJurassic Worldproject before, the often-forgottenWarpath: Jurassic Park, which was a tournament fighter featuring dinosaurs.
This South American dinosaur is considered an anomaly since no full skeletons have ever been found, so they have only been assembled using the fossils of multiple skeletons to create it. The result is something even larger than Utahraptors, hence the name Megaraptors. The mod utilizes the rig for the Scorpius Rex to get the size and movement right.
2Columbian Mammoth
The Jurassic World Franchise Doesn’t Show Enough Love To The Ice Age
Although theColumbian Mammothis not technically a dinosaur—being a mammalfrom the Early Pleistocene era, also known as the Ice Age—it is still a prehistoric animal worth including in the player’s parks. These mammoths are significantly larger than the Woolly Mammoth and have dark, furless hides that resemble larger versions of modern elephants.
Creatures like mammoths, sabertooth tigers, and dire wolves have a fan base that rivals that of dinosaurs, yet it’s surprising how little the franchise utilizes these animals. This mod brings these creatures to life with incredible detail, making them feel like they could be part of the movies if a sequel were to include them.
1Vastatosaurus Rex
King Kong’s Greatest Enemy Returns
Everyone loves theT-Rex in theJurassic Worldmovies, as it is the poster child for the series and the dinosaur kingdom as a whole. One of the best takes on a T-Rex in dinosaur movies is theVastatosaurus Rexfrom Peter Jackson’sKing Kongfrom 2005, which made for some of the most iconic scenes in the movie and the beloved tie-in video game.
Fans ofKing Kongcan rejoice in knowing that the Vastatosaurus Rex, or V-Rex, can be inJurassic World Evolution 2thanks to the Skull Island Species Pack. The V-Rex, the Raptor-like Venatosaurus, the Brontosaurus Baxteri, and the Avaurusaurus are also featured for those wanting to replicate the harsh jungles of Skull Island, and all are replicated to look authentic.
