Summary
There’s a lot of hype about the endgame ofDune: Awakening, but the fun of a long and arduous grind to the higher levels also has a lot of fans. Leveling up in this game means having a base with all of the best fabricators, refineries, and other devices required to make better gear, weapons, and vehicles.
Every single base starts with a Sub-Fief Console, which is a simple device that characters can place using a makeshift Construction Tool. Be careful where it’s placed, because this determines the size and the shape of the base. Once the basic construction is done, it’s time to choose the best and most efficient devices to get off to a sandwalking start.

1Power Generator
Be Prepared To Build Several
It’s possible to build other machines and devices without a power generator, but they won’t function without electricity. Luckily, all that’s needed to build them is an armful of Salvaged Metal, which is easily gathered in the surrounding world without the aid of any tools.
The construction of the unit doesn’t end there, however, because the power generators also need batteries. These are also easily found scatteredthroughout the wildernessand can be found in places like bandit camps and scavenger hideouts. Use the “F” key to deposit them in the generator for power throughout the base, and if everything goes offline at once, that means an additional generator is needed.

2General Fabrication Unit
An Essential Base Component
Before the player can build more advanced fabricators for specific items like gear and weapons, a General Fabricator can be used for basic versions of weapons, tools, and armor. Several of the items that players can make via the Crafting tab are also available via the General Fabricator.
Storage might also be an issue at this point, and it’s a bonus that the fabricator has eight storage slots instead of the usual four with devices at this level. The General Fabricator can build tools up to the Mk2 level, so it’s worth keeping even after moving on to bigger and better machines.

3Ore Refinery
Needed For Making Ingots
Once the player moves on to using copper and iron ingots, which happens fairly quickly, they’ll need an Ore Refinery. The small version only requires salvaged metal to construct, and can refine copper, iron, and steel ingots.
Iron and steel can take the character through a number of levels, but when they start to use aluminum and the materials derived from it, they need to upgrade to a medium or large version of the refinery. In the meantime, the small one is essential andcan last well into mid-level.

4Blood Purifier
Take The Enemy’s Water
In the lore ofDune, water is so precious on Arrakis that it must never be wasted, and one way to get it is by draining a human body of its water. InDune: Awakening, players can use a Blood Extractor on fallen enemies to obtain this resource, and it’s possible to drink it as it is, but much better to run it through a Blood Purifier first.
Carry small or medium blood bags when venturing out in the world, so there’s a way to collect the blood of enemies and load it into the Blood Purifier for an output of fresh water. This isn’t just for staying hydrated, but also to store as a building material. It’s an easy machine to use and build, but essential for gathering water and surviving on Arrakis.

5Water Cistern
A Valuable Resource
Once the player builds a Blood Purifier, they’ll havea supply of fresh water, but they also need somewhere to store it. Literjons aren’t enough, so the next device a player needs to build is a Water Cistern. These can get really big as the character researches more upgrades, but the small version is good enough to start.
There are a variety of water sources in the wilderness aside from blood, such as harvesting moisture from plants or taking water from receptacles in the botanical garden areas of Imperial Testing Stations. Players can consume the water from the cisterns or fill up their Literjons before venturing into the desert.

6Recycler
When Materials Are Scarce
The Recycler is a device that comes in handy a bit later in the base-building process. It can be used to break down complex machines into base components, and some base components into raw materials. If players want to upgrade clothing or weapons but need certain parts, this is one way to get them.
This device is also one way to free up some storage space. Instead of keeping material or gear found in the wilderness, cluttering the limited space in the chests or containers that players can build at this level, use the Recycler to break that stuff into something sellable or stackable.

7Repair Station
After A Long Day Mining Spice
Any components on the bike are repaired using a welding torch, but virtually everything else requires a Repair Station. The desert isn’t kindto equipment, and after a long, hot day of farming spice and harvesting water, players will receive notice that their weapons, armor, and tools are damaged or on the verge of breaking completely.
The Repair Station requires iron ingots to build, so it’ll be one of the last devices that characters require in their base before they move up to steel and aluminum gear. Unlike some other devices, the Repair Station can fix almost anything, regardless of level, as long as the player has the required materials.
