Though it’s only been around for a couple of years,Kagurabachiis quickly becoming one ofWeekly Shonen Jump’srising stars. The series has been nominated for and won a variety of awards while also reaching over 2 million copies in circulation. Manga with fewer accomplishments and less momentum have received anime adaptations in the past, so it’s only natural forKagurabachito get one sooner rather than later.
Earlier this year,rumors of an anime adaptation by CygamesPictures(the studio behindsummer 2025’sThe Summer Hikaru Died) were floating around online. While some suspect that there’s some truth in the rumor, an official announcement has yet to be made. Nothing has even been hinted at at this point. Why Fans Might Have to Wait A Little Longer For an Announcement

While it’s true that big conventions are the perfect place to announce new anime adaptations, that doesn’t mean it’ll happen at Anime NYC in this case.

WithKagurabachilooking like thenext big thing to come out of it, it would make more sense for an anime adaptation to be announced at something like Jump Festa 2026 instead. That’s going to be held later this year from December 20-21. So if that is the case, fans might have to wait a little while longer before they get the news they’re hoping for.
Still, Hokazono’s appearance at Anime NYC will beworth keeping an eye on. At just 24 years old, he’s one of the manga industry’s most interesting up-and-comers. He and Imamura might not be going to the event to announce the anime adaptation, but that doesn’t mean the question won’t get asked. And in that case, who knows what they might let slip?
