Developer GSC Game World has announced thatSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylwill be released for PS5 and PS5 Pro in late 2025. This is great news for PS5 owners, asSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylis one of the most exciting open-world first-person shooters released in the last few years, and it’s currently only available on Xbox and PC.

TheSTALKERfranchise began withSTALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, released by GSC Game World in 2007, and it received two more games in the following years. However, despiteSTALKER 2originally being announced in 2010, the project was eventually canceled and was only released in November 2024 after multiple delays caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where GSC Game World is located. Despite some harsh criticism regarding its lack of polish at release,STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylsaw positive reviews, and it currently stands with an average critic score of 74 onOpenCritic.

Now, GSC Game World has announced the PS5 version ofSTALKER 2with a short trailer. According to the developers, the new version will use PS5-exclusive features such as the haptic feedback andadaptive triggers on DualSense controllers. Also, the title will get “further technical enhancements” for its PS5 Pro version. The PS5 port ofSTALKER 2still does not have an official release date, but it’s expected to come out late in 2025.

Since the release ofSTALKER 2, GSC Game World has been pushing out continuous patches to improve the player experience. One of the mostrecentSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylupdates, for example, improved balance, got rid of a multitude of bugs, and enhanced the A-Life system, which makes the game’s NPCs more lifelike. Following this update, life in the Zone is simulated for all characters, not only the ones being seen by the player.
