Like in most survival games, you’re able to collect materials and craft many different items to help you stay safe — and hopefully escape before the sun comes up.

Crafting plays a big role inThe Alters. From Climbing Hooks toRadiation Filters, players will be making a lot of items on their journey. But it’s not as simple as just finding materials and turning them into gear. Crafting takes a bit of setup first. Below, this guide will walk you through how to unlock crafting — as well as share all the recipes you can use in the game.

How to Craft in The Alters

Players can only craft items in theWorkshop module. Once you unlock it andadd it to your base, you’ll be able to start crafting. Unlocking it works like any other module. Players will need to head to theCommand Centerand add it to the base from there.

At the Command Center, fans will have to use the left terminal toopen the base building menu. From there, you’re able to add the Workshop by spending40 Metals. If you don’t have enough Metals, exit the base using the Airlock. Explore the area, find metal deposits, and interact with them to collect Metals.

One thing to remember here is that crafting takes time. Simple items like a Radiation Filter take around 2 hours, while complex things like an Automatic Outpost can take up to 20 in-game hours. But if you unlock the Worker Alter, he will speed things up by 50%. So, if you plan on crafting a lot, he’s definitely worth getting.
