At the latest Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo confirmed that two more games in theYakuzafranchise would be making their way to the Nintendo Switch 2. Originating on the PlayStation 2, theYakuzagames have largely stayed away from Nintendo platforms. However, that all changed in 2024 whenYakuza Kiwami, the remake of the originalYakuzagame, was released for the Nintendo Switch.

Yakuza Kiwami’s Switch debut was followed up byYakuza 0being a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, giving Nintendo fans the chance to experience the beginnings of Kazuma Kiryu’s adventures. Many have assumed that the otherYakuzagames would make their way to the Switch 2, and now we know exactly when to expect the next batch of titles.

It’s been announced thatYakuza Kiwami 2, the remake ofYakuza 2, is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13.Yakuza Kiwami 2features enhanced graphics when compared to the original game, along with quality-of-life features that smooth out some of its rough edges. The game also features some plot tweaks when compared to the original, adding up to an overall superior package. But whenYakuza Kiwami 2comes to the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13, it won’t be coming alone.

Even thoughYakuza Kiwamiis playable on the Switch 2 already thanks to backward compatibility, the game is set to get a native release on Nintendo’s latest home console/handheld hybrid. It’s also been confirmed that there will be a digital bundle containing bothYakuza KiwamiandYakuza Kiwami 2. This way, Nintendo Switch 2 owners can experience the first threeYakuzagames natively on the Switch 2. While it’s unlikely that those that already ownKiwami 1on the Switch will feel the need to upgrade, this is a great opportunity for Switch 2 gamers to really dive in to theYakuzafranchise.

Assuming theYakuzagames are successful on the Switch 2, one has to imagine that other games in the series may jump ship as well. It’s possible that Sega will bring the remastered versions ofYakuza 3 - 6to the Switch 2, but withYakuza 3considered one of the weaker entriesdue to various outdated features, it could potentially opt for anotherKiwami-style remake instead. Here’s hoping that the Switch 2 eventually catches up toYakuzareleases and fans can enjoy the entire franchise, including brand-new releases, on the platform.
