On October 16th later this year,Pokemonfans will finally be able to return toPokemon XandY’s Kalos region inPokemon Legends: Z-A. Here, players will be able to explore Lumiose City alongside three starters from various classicPokemongames such as Chikorita, Totodile, and Tepig.

WhilePokemon Legends: Z-Ais set in Kalos, gamers are expected to encounter Pokemon introduced in games followingXandY’s release. It’s additionally rumored that, withZ-A’s return of Mega Evolution, 27 Pokemon will receive brand new Mega Evolved forms. However, two Pokemon types are allegedly receiving the short end of the stick with new Mega Evolutions: Bug and Electric.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Confirmed and Rumored Mega Evolutions

ThroughoutPokemon Legends: Z-A’s marketing, Game Freak has confirmed that many Mega Evolutions introduced inPokemon XandYas well asPokemon Omega RubyandAlpha Sapphirewill return in the upcoming game. For example, both Mega Charizard X and Y will return inZ-A, whereasOmega RubyandAlpha Sapphire’s Mega Sableye and Mega Altaria will return in the game as well. It’s currently unknown ifZ-Awill feature all 48 Mega Evolution forms from the Kalos games and Hoenn remakes. The Mega and Primal forms of many Legendary Pokemon, such as Mega Rayquaza and Primal Groudon, are especially unlikely to reappear.

Despite this Mega Evolution uncertainty, rumors have appeared suggesting thatPokemon Legends:Z-Awill introduce 27 brand-new Mega Evolved formson top of the several returning pre-established Mega Evolutions. These supposed Mega Evolutions include:

While the exact typings of these supposed new Mega Evolutions are currently unknown, given how prior Mega Evolutions would occasionally change typings, such as theWater/Flying Gyarados Mega Evolving into a Water/Dark type, it’s likely these Pokemon will retain their primary typings.

The Typings of Rumored Z-A Mega Evolutions Explained

If the27 rumored new Mega Evolved Pokemonretain their base typings and all 27 Mega Evolved forms turn out to be true, the new forms can be categorized and compared with each other and pre-established Mega Evolutions. The Potential Typings and Roles of Mega Scolipede and Mega Eelektross

Bug and Electric Pokemon seldom receive new forms or special attention inPokemongames, and it seems likePokemon Legends: Z-Amay continue this trend if the rumored Mega Evolutions turn out to be true. That said,Mega Scolipede and Mega Eelektrosscould still prove to be standout Mega Evolutions in the upcoming game.

While Scolipede is already aBug/Poison type, similar to many fully evolved Bug Pokemon, Game Freak could change its secondary typing to reflect its Pokedex lore and relationship with other Pokemon. For example, since Scolipede is said to be highly aggressive, often clasping its claws on its prey and attacking relentlessly, Mega Scolipede could become a Bug/Dark type with an increase to its Attack stat to mirror its brutally violent nature.

Alternatively,Pokemon Legends: Z-Acould have Mega Scolipede become a Bug/Water type to make it more effective at combating its rival Bug species, Centiskorch, which is a Fire/Bug type. Similarly, Game Freak could give Mega Eelektross a secondary typing to reflect its animal inspirations and itsPokedex entries.

It’s said that Eelektross can immediately drag prey from the shore underwater and suck its prey to death with electric fangs. Based on this description, as well as its animal inspirations of an electric eel, a leech, and a lamprey,Mega Eelektross could become an Electric/Water typeor possibly an Electric/Dark type with an increase to its Speed stat.
