A leaker with a proven track-record insists that the main character ofResident Evil Requiemis Leon S. Kennedy.Resident Evil Requiemwas first announced at the end of Summer Game Fest 2025, with the game seemingly revealing Grace Ashcroft as its protagonist. However, rumors and leaks have suggested that Capcom is pulling a fast one on fans, and that the true main character ofResident Evil Requiemwill be none other than Leon Kennedy.
Leon has been a fan-favorite characteramongResident Evilfans since he first appeared inResident Evil 2. FollowingResident Evil 2, Leon was the star ofResident Evil 4, widely considered not only one of the bestResident Evilgames, but one of the best video games ever made. Leon also appeared inResident Evil 6and the remakes ofResident Evil 2and4, plus he has been featured in various canon CG movies.
At the recent Capcom Spotlight event, theResident Evil RequiemLeon rumors were addressedby game director Koshi Nakanishi. Nakanishi explained that while the team considered the option of making Leon the main character ofResident Evil Requiem, they decided he wasn’t a “good fit” for horror. Some took this to mean that Leon is not in the game, but leaker AestheticGamer/Dusk Golem has doubled down on their claims that the fan-favorite character is indeedRequiem’s main character. AestheticGamer said, “I’m 100% sure Leon is the protagonist still,” pointing out thatRequiemisn’t going to be a “pure horror game” and claiming Capcom is “baiting you guys 100%.”
Resident Evil Leaker Still Says Leon is the Main Character of Requiem
Resident Evil Requiemhas previously been described as a blend of horror and “high-stakes cinematic action.” Assuming the claims that Leon is the main character ofResident Evil Requiemare true, it seems thatGrace Ashcroft will be playablefor the more horror-focused sections that have been shown off so far, while Leon will star in the action-oriented sequences.
It’s rare for game companies to acknowledge rumors. Capcom could have simply ignored the Leon rumors and made no mention of him at all, but the decision to address the claims could actually point to the rumors of him beingResident Evil Requiem’s main character being true. The same Capcom Spotlight saw the company address theResident Evil Requiemopen world rumors, which was also unexpected.
